I think it's bad to design streets based on one individual's personal opinion instead of how people actually get around or want to get around. This is like small business owners who drive to work simply not being able to imagine anyone walking or biking to their store.

"Ripping out these protected bike lanes against the will of Toronto city council is a colossal waste of $48 million. The province’s own experts know it will not ease traffic congestion, it will put people’s lives at risk…” One of the stupidest things I’ve ever seen any politician do to any city.

Bike lane haters are never going to look at data or logic, they see more riders and don't want it. Personally, I have never seen so many cyclists and micromobility users as I have in the last month. I don't think they can put the genie back in the bottle now...

I want to live in a city that acknowledges that people live downtown (a lot of people actually) and that it’s not just somewhere that suburbanites drive to for work or entertainment.

Monthly water bills that are $90 more than today to cover the cost of aging water infrastructure. That's $1k/year.😱 We need real cost of living improvements like building more safe bicycle infra that allows people to save money by using a bicycle to get around the city. 🤷‍♂️ #yycBike #Calgary

Yes. With the Northmount proposal and the 10 year plan to do 32 Ave to the South, things would be a lot better. Lots of traffic coming from Confederation Park.

While I agree this can't be the only approach to the issue, I think it begins to address the problem you pointed out with the rules being dense and buried. I liken this to geofenced speeds. Just a piece of the puzzle "Green box cameras" could be put up in hot spots to issue warnings/tickets too.
010
NHIZ @nerdhobbiesinzo.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
Seems like this could easily be fixed in modern vehicles with a QR code posted at the green boxes. Modern vehicles have cameras that can position a vehicle in 3d space, read QR xodes & display info on the dash. It could display quick rules on green boxes, show where you shouldn't be on the camera.

An option for a bike commuter bypass on 2 Ave would take a lot of cyclists like me out of this high conflict area. There's too much complexity from Delta gardens to Center street. City planners don't factor in non-walkers. Say like pre-dawn, no lights, dark clothes joggers darting thru Delta.

I've had one presta develop a slow leak and zero schraders do it. On the other hand, my schraders need to be topped up every day or two and my prestas can last a week or two in the same riding.

I have mixed feelings on presta. They were annoying to learn and are sometimes annoying to catch but, my bike with presta seems to hold pressure better than my bike with schrader.

High-speed rail between Calgary and Edmonton is moving forward, and this is a big opportunity for our city. Let's connect our downtowns, grow our economic corridor and make sure Calgary's airport is part of the network. Alberta is growing. Let's build for it.

Everything said about ebikes & e-scooters can be said in spades for vehicles. There's no public campaign on how to properly operate vehicles around bikes/scooters. No vehicle standards to require geo-fenced speed limits, prevent carspreading or dangerous mods. Not risk based, stupid culture war.
