And there it is - McLean wouldn't be talking about 26 Ave SW like this if the upcoming legislation wasn't going to target it. Note the Mayor's comment at the end that every bike lane project for the last decade could be added up and wouldn't cost as much as a single suburban interchange #yycbike

Biked myself to physio today at MNP. Tried to channel my inner @calgaryk.bsky.social but missed the sidewalk to MUP connection after MacDonald Bridge & got rerouted by Google maps. Where did it take me? Down the sidewalk on 1st St SE. 🤦🏼‍♀️ We need reliable wayfinding so badly. #yycbike

Meanwhile, in Calgary, Alberta our province's Premier is threatening to have the provincial government force municipalities to remove bike lanes that are already in place/established. Apparently car centric petro businesses don't want to give way to kids on bikes.

I still think Calgary is a ways off having free convenient secure bike parking, but trying to talk about this cycling barrier more & more. Also working with @bikecalgary.bsky.social to bring more bike valets to our city. Hopefully it's a stepping stone to more permanent options for #yycbike.

I've been frustrated that I haven't been able to graduate to walking with one crutch. Then I realized I was trying to walk the same way I had been with two crutches & I didn't have to start with that harder version. So here's to slow progress & single crutch walking! #yycbike

Made it around the block on a family walk. Learned that one of the nearby streets has a very slanted sidewalk which really jacks your heartrate up when you're on crutches.

Nathan had a scary near-miss on 4th today & I'm MAD. Annika would have died because of that stupid crossing at 23 avenue NW, where drivers try to cut in where the lane ends. RRFBs are doing nothing. We need bollards and narrowed lanes & design that has consequences when you're reckless. #yycbike

I still can't ride a bike myself, but luckily I have friends who will bike detour down my alley & mama duck my kids to school with theirs while my husband is away. This is the spirit of #yycbike in action. It's just the best community of people. 🥹❤️

This section is narrow enough to have been a contributing factor in my crash, & that was without e-scooters parked on the sidewalk. We desperately need a safe route up to the communities in the North Hill LAP & I agree w/ the idea that trips do not start or end on narrow sections like this. #yycbike
