i dislike the whole project but his paintings have always overwhelmingly struck me as NAIVE in a way that he doesnt seem to intend-- he's treating the illo as lowbrow and authorless and making a joke of putting it into Fine Art, but all i can see is man this fucker had no grasp of drawing at all lol

I’ve read commentary by art critics asserting that Lichtenstein’s works are superior to their sources and qualify as fine art because they use compositions the comic artists couldn’t achieve. Special pleading by people who’ve never looked at the originals.

Our daughter did a presentation in her high-school art class where she compared Lichtenstein's work with the originals and asked the question whether he was a plagiarist - ISTR she got an 'A' and a thanks from her art teacher who really didn't know any of this.

I'd never seen this Roy Lichtenstein painting before, but it's incredible how he manages unfailingly to make his copies worse than the original comics he's ripping off.

Earlier this week, I agreed to interviews with two USA Today journalists. They wrote fantastic articles about the Cornell case that I'm proud to have been a part of. What I did not know is that their employer considers interviews to proprietary and opens up recordings to be used by any journalist.
