Fresh discoveries have recently surfaced in Göbeklitepe and Karahantepe, signifying significant archaeological breakthroughs. Göbekli Tepe, which dates back approximately 12,000 years, holds the distinction of being the most ancient megalithic site worldwide. Source | arkeonews.net/new-discover...
Göbeklitepe, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, has revolutionized the perspectives of historians and archaeologists regarding the origins of civilization. Remarkably, it possesses a companion site known as Karahantepe.
The site continues to tantalize researchers with its untapped potential, promising further revelations.
In an official written statement, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Türkiye has disclosed the following information:
A remarkable statue, standing at a height of 2.3 meters, has been unearthed in Karahantepe, showcasing an incredibly lifelike facial expression. This statue stands out due to its striking resemblance to a relief discovered during the Sayburç excavations in 2021. Notably, one of the panels in Sayburç depicts a figure holding their phallus in their right hand. However, the newly discovered statue depicts a figure holding its phallus with both hands.
The seated statue, positioned within a fixed niche on the ground, portrays a deceased human with distinct emphasis on the rib, spinal, and shoulder bones, creating a vivid representation.
Within the same vicinity where the sculpture was found, a vulture sculpture adorning the wall and stone plates scattered on the ground were also uncovered. Recent studies conducted in the Şanlıurfa province of Turkey have provided valuable insights into settlements that indicate the existence of a distinct phase within the Pre-Pottery Neolithic period.

A handprint on an orange background. The handprint is broken into segments, inside of which are different symbols representing elements of Indigenous culture, including animal paw prints, landscapes with trees, and other images drawn from nature. There is a large black eagle feather on the left side of the handprint, and bird silhouettes appear in the upper left hand corner of the image. The words EVERY CHILD MATTERS appear at the bottom of the piece.

A traditional Japanese garden, which showcases the traditional aesthetic concept of Fuyugeshiki (winter scenery).
Blanketed in a fresh layer of pristine snow, a serene Japanese garden yields to the quiet stillness of winter. In the mid-ground, a sweeping vermilion drum bridge (taikobashi) arches gracefully across a dark, reflective pond, its brilliant scarlet railings capped in heavy white frost. To the right, resting on the stony bank at the water's edge, a broad-capped stone lantern (yukimi-dōrō) wears a thick mantle of snow upon its wide roof (kasa). In the foreground, low-bent bamboo arches along the garden path are soft under winter drifts, while snow-laden evergreen boughs droop overhead, framing the composition with delicate, icy foliage against the muted gray atmosphere.

The appreciation of fuyugeshiki (winter scenery) occupies a revered position in Japanese garden design and seasonal poetry (kigo). Far from treating winter as a dormant void, classical garden architects created layouts specifically engineered to celebrate snowfall (yukigeshiki). The yukimi-dōrō ("snow-viewing lantern"), which gained widespread popularity during the Edo period, was designed with a wide, low-slung cap specifically to collect and display fresh snow over water features. Furthermore, the vermilion-lacquered taikobashi—a bridge form rooted in sacred Shinto and Buddhist precinct design—introduces a bold, ceremonial pop of color (shu-iro) that cuts through the winter monochrome, symbolizing the spiritual crossing between the secular ground and a purified realm.
