I LOVE how @propublica.org dealt with official comment here, editorially and stylistically.
The Trump administration says none of this is happening.

"DHS is NOT arresting U.S. citizens by mistake." "There are no 'indiscriminate' stops." Allegations of "racial profiling are disgusting, reckless and categorically FALSE." "The pattern is NOT of law enforcement using force." "ICE does not zip tie or restrain children."

But that is precisely what is happening, and at a far larger scale than previously reported.

The government *still* isn’t tracking how often immigration agents detain U.S. citizens. We are. 500+ Americans have been handcuffed, held at gunpoint or held against their will in Trump’s second term. Our tally is almost certainly an undercount. THREAD (content warning: violence) ⬇️

I promise you, there are Democrats in congress right now who still believe it is possible to go back to before Trump. It is not. Republicans are spending Trump’s term as Vought intended. They are intentionally breaking government in as many places as they can to make going back impossible.

This is an important statement people, and especially elected Dems need to really understand. The current Republican project is one of destruction, by design. Yes, they have other goals, in RFK’s case he’s objectively pro-disease, but their primary metric of success is breaking government.

But also some of the recent finds in archaeology make it so interesting too. Backing up the date of settlements in the western hemisphere by thousands of years! Loads of stuff in Asia Minor! Britain connected to Scandinavia! The world is not what we thought it was and that’s awesome!

Set in Norfolk - lots of marshes and liminal spaces and such like. If you like the first one (which sets the table for a lot of the whole series) you’ll like a lot of the rest. Some better than others but I think (layperson pov!) the books always take the archaeology seriously.

Hey we have the same taste in action sequences! I appreciate the way in the Bourne movies generally that they somehow don’t forget about all the bystanders. They live there, they are disrupted by this, they will remember this, they’ll have to repair this later. That cop will never walk again
