The Fast-Track is a War on Nature Many of the proposed fast-track projects threaten conservation land - ecologically essential landscapes which have been placed under protection for future generations. Craig Renney explaining how Nats and crew are very bad with money.
"We're not a poor country, but we absolutely make poor choices when it comes to spending.

Let me give you a very brief example. Boot camps.

The first round of boot camps cost $4.1 million for ten children.

That's $410,000 per child.

For that money, let's assume they lived in Palmerston North.

I could pick them up in Palmerston North in a limousine. I could drive them to Wellington Airport. I could fly them first class, Air New Zealand, Cathay Pacific, to London.

In London, I could pick them up in another limousine, Rolls-Royce Wraith II if you must, and drive them to Windsor.

At Windsor, I could drop them off at Eton private school. I could pay for an entire year at Eton and give them $1,000 a week in spending money.

At the end of the year, I could pick them up in the limousine, fly them first class all the way back to Wellington, drive them home to Palmerston North, and then hand them a cheque for $125,000.
