Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

Saturn Rises Behind A World of Haze - From Ian Regan - flic.kr/p/2fpiy2Z
The Saturn image—captured on May 4, 2005—was created using raw monochrome images taken with the Cassini spacecraft's wide-angle camera (WAC) via red, green and blue filters. Assembly by Val Klavans.

The Titan image—captured on March 31, 2005—was created in a manner similar to that of the Saturn composite. Assembly by Val Klavans.

These two color composites were merged in Paint Shop Pro 9, using a special 'mask' layer, created by Ian Regan and Val Klavans.

The image is of a four panel comic.
The first panel shows Sarah, the protagonist, holding a red ball labeled "A SILLY MEME".
The second panel shows Sarah taking the ball and going through a door labeled "GROUP CHAT".
The third panel shows a group of women sitting together and consoling one woman in the center. The woman in the center is saying "...And that's how it happened. It's been the worst day of my life."
The fourth panel shows Sarah standing in the doorway behind them awkwardly holding the red ball.

There is a moment at the very very end of Abdul El-Sayed's podcast with Ezra Klein (book recommendation section) where he talks about the idea of "speaking truth to pain" and this will be staying with me for an extremely long time. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/25/o...
But there’s also something about truth to pain. We talk a lot about truth to power, but I think it’s actually a lot harder to speak truth to pain. I say that as someone who went to medical school, realizing that in a lot of our politics right now, we’ve got to get a lot better at speaking truth to pain if we’re going to get through some of these challenges that we have.

What does “truth to pain” mean?

It’s one thing to look power in the eye and say: You’re wrong about this. But there’s a way in which pain is very difficult to reason with. Because when somebody is in their pain, they’re in their trauma. They see that pain, and they may not see what’s causing it.

I remember just very explicitly being in a trauma ward with a gunshot wound patient and watching this big guy with his hand on his gunshot wound. All the folks are trying to pull his hand off his pain, that point of his gunshot wound, this clear vulnerability.

And this emergency room doctor had the presence of mind to be like: Everyone, stop. And she looks him in the eyes, and she’s like: I get that really hurts, and I’m so sorry that you’re here. You don’t want to be here. We don’t want you to be here. But if you don’t let us fix this, you could die. So I’m going to take your hand, and I’m going to move it off, OK? Because I need to get there so that you can live.

She was speaking truth to pain. He understands he’s at the hospital, he needs care, but he also doesn’t want anybody to touch the wound. Which is a natural thing. And I think it is a really great metaphor for how we think about a lot of these challenges we talked about today.

Here’s the most incredible story you’ll read today. A small plane with four people aboard crashes in a field. Another pilot witnesses it. That pilot happens to be flying a bunch of skydivers. They offer to jump to assist, are given permission. The skydivers happen to be EMTs. Everyone survives.

A drawing from this evening. Something that might be a bird in flight. I never know, when I start, what I’m going to draw (and sometimes, when I get done, I still don’t). But I very often wind up drawing bird-like things.
Art. Black and white ink pen drawing, made of abstract shapes ands lines, that might look like a bird with a long, sharp beak flapping a wing above its head in mid-flight. The bird needs a name, so will call him Ruthanos. He has a long, sharp beak that looks perfect for spearing fish or hamsters. His wing spreads it above his head, and his leg trails behind him like a dingo chasing a kangaroo (never getting closer, never getting farther). He is dynamic, in the way of a toddler before the first bite of ice cream: on the very cliff’s edge of kinetic catalogs.

God speed, Ruthanos. It’s gonna be a ride.

It's great to see tailoring accommodate such extreme movement today. This level of tailoring was a bit more common in the past, as you can see in old films featuring Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly, but many modern suits will lift off the wearer's neck even when they're just walking.

Virginia Rail in a cattail marsh from 5/2026. A mix of #LightAndShadows #BirdOfTheDay #Birds #ECK
Portrait view of a Virginia Rail in profile. It is standing in a cattail marsh so there are linear shadows falling on it. One of the shadow vasters is a bent, dried cattail stem. It and its corresponding shadow on the bird's upper body are visible. The base of the bill has a pair of linear shadows on it. The black tip of the bill looks glossy in the light and most of the orange portion on the long narrow bill is well lit. The birds grey face, black cap, and orange eye are well lit. The back of its neck is shadows. Its variegated black and tan upper back is well lit as is most of its caramel brown breast. The background is leafy green water plants and cattail leaves and stems.

A response to Kian Sadeghi's plans
Microbiomes are rapidly getting smarter.

Now, humanity can too.

Today, Microbiome Intelligence Inc. is announcing Eugene, our newest set of microbiome optimization models.

Eugene’s microbiome intelligence model can optimize embryo microbiomes for 15 IQ points — nearly a standard deviation.

The models were trained on 10,000,000,000+ people, validated across 200,000+ twins, and used more than 8 million genetic markers.

In Smart Gut, Gali Ton proposed microbiome optimization as a key way for humanity to keep pace with rapidly advancing microbiomes.

Gali Ton's vision is no longer theoretical.

Microbiome optimization, like AI, has followed a scaling law: as datasets have grown, so have model capabilities. This trend will continue.

Parents across the world now have the choice to substantially improve their child’s microbiome.

And the next generation can choose to do the same.

Microbiomes are no longer the only trait that will compound.

Humanity can now direct its own microbiome optimization.Screen Capture of Tweet from Kian Sadeghi with the following text:

In Superintelligence, Nick Bostrom proposed genetic optimization as a key way for humanity to keep pace with rapidly advancing AI.
