Highlights from trapping overnight 3-4/10/26 at Freshwater Bay, @portlandbirdobs.bsky.social included a pristine Brindled Ochre (now very scarce in Dorset), 4 Golden Twinspot and a worn Silver-spotted Veneer (Euchromius ocellea); also here 15+ Palpita vitrealis, 1 Bordered Straw, 3 Vestal

Thanks to Ralph Parkes at tonight’s Scilly bird log for some great moths. 7 new species for me. The next 3 are Small Marbled, Purple Marbled and Silver-spotted Veneer (Euchromius ocellea). Plus only my 4th Convulvulous Hawkmoth (all from Scilly). #teammoth

I guess it must be. I've had Lychnis and Buff-tip over the past couple of nights, so the moths obviously have no idea what time of the year it's supposed to be!

Sadly the Sorcerers weren't on the wing for us last night but in all other respects it was an excellent night for migrant moths at the Obs, with a bumper catch of routine fare together with our second ever Southern Brindled Green + another Porter's Rustic

Lydd on Sea VC15, on a night that started mild, but grew more chilly towards dawn, there were the usual Autumn species across the three traps. The standout moth of the night was this really fresh looking Small Marbled. Still no special Wainscot!! #Teammoth #Mothsmatter @migrantmothuk.bsky.social

On 21st September I found some larval spinnings of Tebenna micalis (Beautiful Twitcher) on Fleabane at Pembrey (Carmarthenshire). I collected a few for rearing and over the last few days three of the beautiful little jewel-like adults have emerged. #TeamMoth @migrantmothuk.bsky.social
