I potted a tiny micro off the outside of the 40-W actinic trap in my garden last night and it turned out to be Anatrachyntis badia, the first record for Yorkshire (VCs 61-65). I must admit I'd never heard of it! #teammoth #YorkshireMoths @doublekidney.bsky.social @eggboxenvy.bsky.social

Striped Hawk-moth in my North Yorkshire garden trap this morning. I've lost count of the number in Yorkshire this year, but it's certainly over 20. Is this a separate wave or are these offspring of the May/June immigrants. Possibly offspring, as larvae have been found. @migrantmothuk.bsky.social

Some nice moths in the last two nights in North Yorkshire. Manchester Treble-bar was a major surprise at home. Two Cydia amplana at Nosterfield NR are the first for VC65 - seems to be quite an influx, and Ptocheuusa paupella at Ellington Banks is the first for VC64 and quite a range extension.

If you look closely you can pick out the spiral galleries of the tiny moth Enteucha acetosae. If you look closely you can pick out the spiral galleries of the tiny moth Enteucha acetosae.
