It is good advice, as is this; you can ask Bluesky to prompt you to enter text for screenshots like this, which make it possible for those with reduced sight to be able to read the text.

On my first big overseas client conference, I was at a dinner seated next to a drunk client who kept trying to fondle me under the table. I was young, distressed, and had no idea what to do. I moved my legs as far away from him as I could, moving into the space of the man next to me, who then started patting my legs! The Regional Manager was a French woman who caught my eye, gestured for me to go to the bathroom and when I came back had switched chairs with me. What happed next was epic. A few minutes after I sat back down, she raised her hand with his hand captured in hers and announced loudly "Does anyone know whose hand this is? I found it in my lap." There was dead silence at the table. She threw his hand back at him and said calmly "next time I pick it up with my fork." Then she started a new conversational thread and things moved on. After the meeting she found me, gave me a hug, and said seriously "Never be afraid to make some noise. It is their shame, not yours."

Doing nothing to address congestion is not a neutral decision. But building more roads is not the answer. New lanes fill up with new traffic. What frees up our streets is giving people real choices: buses that turn up, safe routes to walk, cycle, and wheel

Worth a repost with quote from a person staying at our house yesterday: "What, you're back with the kids from school already?!" Yep. And it was cheap. And it was about 20 times more energy efficient than your offer to drive them.

This is a choice made by our governments. Not one person needs to die trying to cross the Channel or entering the UK in any way. It is always a political choice to allow people to die, as a deterent to those desperate people behind them.

UK Labour's affiliated trade unions stood in solidarity with trans and non-binary people on Saturday. "Just because something is the law, does not mean it is right. Laws can be wrong. Section 28 was the law, and it was wrong. And you know what the Labour government did? It changed the law."

I would make it mandatory for call centres to provide an option to say "Look, I have already tried doing it online *and* in the app, and it's not working. I want this to be a phone call even less than you do so please shut up about how convenient it is to do it digitally".

Pals I see you sharing links to London Daily & need you to know it's AI bullshit. The Louise Michel is real, Banksy really funded it, but that started in 2020 & the LD link people are sharing is timestamped to today but written as if it's 2020 & elides all the actual journalism about it.
Screenshot reads as follows:

Welcome to London Daily, an innovative and unique news experiment driven by advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

Our AI system conducts extensive research and fact-checking, presenting a non-biased and diverse perspective on each topic. It meticulously filters out biased or manipulated content, offering you factual summaries essential for your knowledge as an informed citizen.

Our aim is not to replace mainstream media but to provide you with succinct summaries of key headlines, encouraging you to explore these stories in greater depth through your favorite mainstream news sources.

As a privately funded, non-profit initiative, our mission is to provide a concise and comprehensive overview of current events as part of a broader project to enhance fact-checking and AI journalism for journalists and publishers worldwide.

We are building a tool that will help professional journalists and traditional mainstream news outlets enhance their news delivery, boost their readership, ease their workload, and lower their costs while increasing their productivity—all aimed at improving content reliability and readability.

The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time.
