Took a (very) rainy walk through the Loop tonight. I was absolutely soaked, but my camera stayed dry enough.
The pavement in Chicago is wet from a day-long rain. Street and traffic lights reflect on the stored in vivid colors. In the foreground, a person with an umbrella is an out-of-focus silhouetteCalder's Flaming - an orange, abstract metal sculpture in Chicago stands in a wet, reflective plaza. This idea for a freight-rail bypass for Atlanta is amazing! I was lucky enough to be part of the group that got a presentation of it and I was instantly sold. It creates opportunities for new passenger rail by diverting freight trains out of the city. saportareport.com/vision-to-dr...

Hello from Northern Spain #eclipse
A total solar eclipse hangs low over a rural Spanish landscape, the dark disc of the Moon surrounded by the Sun’s glowing corona. Hazy evening light washes across rolling fields and distant hills, with scattered trees and a solitary church silhouetted beneath the eclipsed Sun.

AOC is right ofc. We're stuck with the QTS data center behemoth on the #GApol Beltline now. But at least it would pay $42M in taxes in 2026. Come to find Assessors staff reverted to <$2M without telling their board. Will the board insist on correcting it back, so at least Atlanta gets fair revenue?

We've got to think about transit from a holistic perspective: That means not just funding transit lines, but also building homes. One way to do that is to help communities land bank for development around stations ⏬ It would be great to see this concept included in future legislation.

For those previously unacquainted here’s the sculpture known to me as ‘Harry Caray and the Harrowing of Hell’
A bronze statue of the late Cubs announcer Harry Caray that stands by the entrance to the bleachers at Wrigley Field. Harry is seen wearing a windbreaker and his signature large and thick-rimmed glasses. He’s gesticulating with both arms, one holding a microphone as he leads the crowd singing in the 7th inning stretch. The base of the statue is a sculptural rendition of the stands of Wrigley Field and rising up from it, in what can easily be interpreted as bronze hellfire, are faces of damned and tormented Cubs fans. I know it sounds like I’m being facetious but that is sincerely what it looks like.
