Paris has been praised in recent years for their visionary, progressive city-building, but they don’t get nearly enough credit for just being really pragmatic! Everything they’ve been doing is common sense. They’re moving a lot more people with less space while cleaning the air & cooling the city.
Many Parisians on bikes in a protected bike-lane in central Paris (Rue de Rivoli)Many Paris streets are still chocked with cars, with traffic moving VERY slowly. If the people choosing bikes were all driving cars instead, the gridlock would be even worse — in fact, that’s how it was not many years ago.

Yesterday we saw this car flipped on our walk home from the park. This is a quiet neighborhood street. I can’t imagine how fast and reckless this person must have been driving. I really want more diverters on neighborhood streets.

I was a safe streets advocate prior to becoming a father 3 months ago, but holy shit has my fear and anger towards the threat of cars grown to a tremendous energy ever since. If vehicular violence claimed my daughter from me, I have no words for what I'd do.

The thing people who avoid e-bikes don’t get is the sheer joy they bring to the rider. You can literally go places you can’t in a car, it makes it easier to do things, even parking is easier. I almost always see smiles on peoples faces when they use them. I ride my acoustics for exercise.

I dare everyone to experience their community car free or car lite for even just a few days. It will open your eyes or, dare I say, radicalize, you to learn what your city feels like on the human level. You'll see things with a sense of clarity no prestine windshield could ever provide.

It's extremely windy today and if I only owned an acoustic bike, today's errands would have been in a car. Our Ebikes remove the barriers. They neutralize winds, flatten hills, shrink distances, and make up for lack of energy. E-bikes don't replace bikes, they replace cars.

We've spent a ton of time talking about teens getting injured on e-bikes (or illegal e-motos). We've heard that crash rates are skyrocketing. Marin County Dept of Health even set up a dashboard to see how many e-bike/e-moto crashes are happening. But how many kids are getting hurt *in cars*? 🧵
