One additional 'quick fact': if your name is John, the Nobel committee is twice as likely to award you the Prize for Physics, compared to scientists who are female - Number of physics prizes to a John: 10 - Number of female physics Nobel laureates: 5 Best wishes to all the John-hopefuls this yr 👩‍🔬⚛️

Hmmm on what is arguably the biggest issue in British politics right now, Andy Burnham’s government sounds a lot like Keir Starmer’s…. Wild thought, but maybe this is what happens when you keep the same people in post?

I wonder if there is a single person still at the Telegraph who feels even a smidgeon of shame, that in just over a decade it has gone from newspaper-of-record to fluffers-for-rent. It is revolting. Farage, apparently, "lands" a record crypto bung.

Now, as with other stories on Reform finances, it has been given elsewhere.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: It's not so much some coked up thug live streaming from your doorstep, whether it be Tommy, Tate or Tommo. It's the legions of utterly cooked followers, with a deeply troubling parasocial relationship, that are the real threat.

This was always the danger of the “cut Jodrell to wake them up” plan. IMHO the funding should come from the majority users of Diamond. Who are not astronomers or particle physicists. Which is also this blog’s point.

What angers me the most as a planetary scientist about the world blowing through the 1.5 deg C threshold is that we know how to stop this. The broad strokes physics/processes here are straightforward enough that the runaway greenhouse Earth and snowball Earth was a homework assignment in grad school

I'm so bored with this. If Burnham, like Starmer, thinks Labour's 'red lines' are unmoveable for political reasons then, ok, I understand that. But to then keep pretending there is some 'ambitious' deal possible that will discernibly increase UK growth is just absurd. www.ft.com/content/4ec5...
