Reminder also that if you have thoughts, ideas, feedback about JWST, you can talk to the JWST Users Committee (JSTUC) members, who meet directly with STScI twice a year. Their input is taken very seriously. You can see the JSTUC members here: www.stsci.edu/jwst/science...

For the second fiscal year in a row, NASA awarded ~20% fewer grants than the recent historical average. That's about 500 fewer grants going out to scientists around the country.

Answer: New NSF Astro-Core has "target submission date" of Nov 16! From the NASEM Committee on Astronomy and Astrophysics meeting last week, Chris Smith said this "is not a deadline but proposals submitted after the target date may be considered for funding in the following fiscal year" (see pic). 🔭
FY27 Core Astronomical Sciences
• Similar to previous AAG solicitation:
o All areas of astronomy are eligible
o Observational, archival data analysis, laboratory, theoretical, computational,
ML/AI.
• Target submission date: Monday, November 16.
o Target date is not a deadline, but proposals submitted after the target date
may be considered for funding in the following fiscal year.
• Can be combined with Dear Colleague Letter and supplement
programs
• Genesis-Mission, CDS&E, RUI, REU, RET, ROA
