Several weeks ago, Phil Tippett's legendary animation studio in Berkeley, CA closed. An anonymous hero noticed a folder of CDs. This turned out to be hundreds of unseen hi-res images and videos from Star Wars, Robocop, Jurassic Park, etc. ~90 isos for you to browse: archive.org/details/tipp...

Today I saw the new 4 hour documentary Musk, directed by Alex Gibney. There were too many times to count that a sold out theater burst out laughing at Elon Musk, something he said or did, even sometimes just how he looked. I believe that is his worst nightmare come to life.

Full, possibly last, Strange New Words tomorrow but I think I've figured out why season 4 leaves me cold. With all the dressing up as different genres and forms even the recognisably "Star Trek" episodes feel like they're "playing" Star Trek. There's no boundary pushing, no new stories to tell.

Had an hour or two to kill in Belfast this afternoon so stopped into the QFT to watch this. Had the sense I'd kind of crashed a sort of cinematic memorial service (complimentary). A touching and personal film about Davey Hammond's commitment to documenting and preserving Irish heritage.
