"There is a risk of people being over-diagnosed with ADHD and autism, an official review in England says" is the main headline, but then you get this. It feels like one of those stories where the narrative "desire path" that ADHD is over-diagnosed is going to eclipse the detail.
Wes Streeting 'completely wrong' about over-diagnosis, says review author

The author of today's report, Prof Peter Fonagy, has been speaking to Radio 4's Today programme.

He starts by saying that former Health Secretary Wes Streeting - who first commissioned the review - was "with respect, completely wrong" when he talked about an over-diagnosis of mental health disorders.

His findings show that "there has been a rise in distress and mental ill health amongst young people which is very, very real," he

We always give DS9 the credit for introducing serialised storytelling to Star Trek, but the structure of S4 is incredible. The murders of K'Ehlyr and Duras, the half Romulan officer in The Drumhead, Geordi's attempted assassination of a high profile Klingon, all setting up "Redemption" and Sela.

I remember going to see North by Northwest at the BFI and there was a kid a few rows in front who loudly called Cary Grant an idiot for trusting and following Eva Marie Saint around. He clearly didn't get it. But I got it. We all got it.

A heartbroken Jenna leaves Data's quarters at the end of "In Theory"

Watching "In Theory" in 2026 reveals it to be a good take on loneliness and AI delusion. Jenna's attracted to Data because he's an affable android whose positronic brain remembers the little things that her ex didn't. He's also sycophantic and artificial, meaning they can't connect emotionally.
Data is embraced by Lt. JG Jenna S'Sora in the TNG episode "In Theory"

Enjoying how this is basically the plot of the Dad's Army episode "If the Cap Fits"
When Dr McCoy grumbles once too often about the way the Enterprise ought to be run, Captain Kirk decides to leave the doctor in command while he oversees a routine diplomatic mission to a planet nicknamed "Flyspeck".
However. the doctor soon learns that command is a double-edged sword when Kirk disappears without a trace, and the Klinaons arrive to stake their own claim on Flvspeck.
Then another, more deadly power threatens them all, and suddenly, Dr McCoy and the Enterprise find themselves pitted against an alien fleet in a battle they have no hope of winning.

I wish more reporting on private ADHD/autism assessment providers mentioned that many NHS pathways - as in, the default local not-Right-To-Choose ones - are outsourced to those same providers. If there are quality concerns, the Government should be investing in high-quality NHS pathways.

Several weeks ago, Phil Tippett's legendary animation studio in Berkeley, CA closed. An anonymous hero noticed a folder of CDs. This turned out to be hundreds of unseen hi-res images and videos from Star Wars, Robocop, Jurassic Park, etc. ~90 isos for you to browse: archive.org/details/tipp...
A casual Star Wars alien fella at the cantina, in a sun faded, reddish photo. Someone will be mad at me for not knowing who this is. Phil, a balding Caucasian man, poses a model of the garthok, an antagonist from the Coneheads movie.Phil, a balding caucasian man, points at some CG on a CRT computer monitor, as a younger man looks on. The screen shows a model of a dinosaur attacking a jeep, while there's an actual physical model of that event in the foreground for reference.an isolated shot of a star wars vehicle.
