Golgi-derived vesicles containing PI(3,4)P2 drive mitochondrial fusion
Mitochondria are dynamic organelles that remodel their shape to regulate cell fate. Mitochondrial division involves interactions with the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), lysosomes, and trans-Golgi network...

Hey yeah, friendly reminder that men denying or minimizing the work of women and taking credit for it themselves happens so much we have a NAME for it. (It’s the Matilda Effect.) 2nd fun fact: I’ve written many bios of women in STEM at this point and this is *always a factor in their history*

Fold Spacer lets you fly through protein structures (Weekend project #2). It’s my first game: I originally set out to build a racer with structures as the tracks, but was a little too crazy. So it became this instead. You can upload your own structures. 🌐 martin-steinegger.github.io/Fold-Spacer/

Igor Yakunin, Sean Munro @cellbiol-mrclmb.bsky.social and colleagues find that the Golgi vesicle tether p115 can bind directly to the ER exit site organiser Sec16A. #OpenAccess #ReadandPublish journals.biologists.com/jcs/article/...
AlphaBridge visualisation of the output from an AlphaFold 3 prediction of a complex between the N-terminal region of Sec16A (1–1100) and the head domain of p115 (1–630). Shown in orange and blue are the two high-confidence interactions identified by AlphaBridge, both of which have a predicted interaction confidence score (piCS) of 0.91 (Álvarez-Salmoral et al., 2025 preprint). The predicted local distance difference test (pLDDT) score of ≤50 indicates that most of the indicated region of Sec16A is predicted to be unstructured. (C) AlphaFold 3 prediction of the complex formed between residues 701–755 of Sec16A and the head domain of p115. The residues of Sec16A lie along a groove in the surface of p115, with two regions predicted to interact with very high confidence. Shown in red are short stretches of residues in the middle of each region that were selected for mutation to alanine.
