But journalism and art don't happen without financial support. The answer to this is to pay for the subscriptions you can. Support who you can. This is the world we live in and until systemic change that allows for journalism and the arts to have public funding happens, people have to pay the bills.

The people who are arguing with you about this seem to miss a very obvious point here. Under capitalism, you have to be able to pay for groceries and rent and medical care, and if journalism is going to exist outside of fox news, reporters are going to have to be able to pay those bills.

I understand that paywalls are annoying, but the grim reality for everything right now, is if you want something to exist, you have to put money towards it. Every creative person is having their life's work hoovered up by AI companies. Layoffs never end. Private equity keeps making things worse.

This is why after all these years, and even with as janky as it is, I still go back to VTM: Bloodlines. To me, no vampire game has ever surpassed it. (Yes, I know there's a wonderful patch that fixes a lot of the jankiness, but you can't deny that it is janky. Kinda part of the charm.)

in his old age, Sandal has become a terror at night. he wakes us up by meowing until we bring him food. he insists we put the bowl on the bed. i find this frustrating, but that's not really fair. if i could have someone deliver me food in bed whenever i wanted, i'd basically never do anything else.

I don't deny that dogs can sometimes be quite lovely but what I will say is I don't trust their opinions. If a cat recommended me an album it had bought, I'd totally check it out. If a dog did the same, I'd promise to listen to the album, out of politeness, with no intention of actually doing so
