#postaday #photography #boxturtle #turtle #nature #wildlife Got my COVID and ‘flu vaccines today, so my left arm is feeling a bit sorry for itself. Beats getting sick, though! 😊💜 I didn’t draw enough to post today, so here is a box turtle from 2 days ago in Halloween colours! 🎃🧡🖤🤎

A colour photograph of a box turtle with orange and black markings all over, each side scute on the shell (four per side) almost like an orange handprint with the fingers pointing down, and the five center back scutes like orange feathered nose helms.
The turtle (sex unknown; I didn’t want to stress them out by picking them up) is facing head right, on bare earth and cedar needles, with very small green seedlings on the left. The turtle’s nose is just barely poking out of their shell (I waited several minutes for them to open up), and the heel of the right front foot and a bit of the leg is visible.
There are little orange dots on the turtle’s head.

A colour close up photograph of the front of a box turtle with bright orange and black markings all over, the side scutes like an orange handprint with the fingers pointing down, and the center back scutes like orange feathered nose helms.

A little black cat with large, round eyes wears silver armour and holds a shield and a raised sword. It sits on green grass beneath a softly blended pink, purple and blue sky. White handwritten text above reads: “I will fall, but I will get up. I will fail, but I will try again. I might be scared sometimes, but there’s a brave little heart in me.”

New progress update on my Pintober project: Interred: pins inspired by the headstones and statuettes in my local cemetery! Here are the first two finished pins: elidritch and celestial cherub! www.backerkit.com/c/projects/a... #ArtShop #DarkArt #PastelGoth #Pintober

Two pin designs with rought symmetrical designs. On the left: a red-outlined pin in shades of pink depicting a cherub head and wing design like those in cemetery and church carvings, but with red goo running down the forehead and dripping from the wing, with small white eyes in three places, and a small red bat-like wing on the right side. On the right is the same cherub flipped so the wing is on the right, in shades of blue, with a halo section in place of the bat wing, and a row of three large white sparkles with eyes inside lined up over and above the left eye.

#postaday2026 #artsky #blueskyart #bskyart #art #colouring #coloring #wip I’m redrawing the colouring sheet I did last year; just making it a bit nicer. WiP, & 2 designs (same idea, different size circles) from last February. I used a circle stencil, but each design is laid out by hand.

A graphite WiP drawing, partially inked, of a circle design repeated. There are lines of large circles alternating with lines of small circles.
The circles have stylized floral designs inside, and there are small single leaf designs between the large circles.
This is intended as a colouring sheet design.

An ink drawing scanned and printed onto art paper, of a circle design repeated.
(This is intended as a colouring sheet of just the ink outline. This colour version is a test of the design. To show how the sheet could look, I coloured the ink outline with marker and white paint pen so I could see if the design was satisfying.)
There are lines of three large circles alternating with lines of two small circles and a half circle on each side. The circles have flowered in the centers, and the circles are coloured with marker in shades of pink and red, with blue and pink stylized leaves and flowers between the larger circles.
The colour has been finished with a white paint pen, using the ink lines as a guide and inspiration. I created shadows with complementary colours to give the design depth.
On the top row, I tried three different designs for the large circle, but I liked the leftmost design in pink and dark red the best, so I did the rest of the page that way.
It was VERY satisfying! :)

A colouring sheet (designed by me) finished with marker, ink, and paint pen, of a repeating pattern of large and small circles of flowers and leaves, with the small circles are connected with lines of small leaves.
The flowers are pink and purple, with a dark green background, and lighter green connecting leaves in a diamond layout. The centers of the flowers are red and yellow. There is a pink circle around the large flowers with a darker pink chevron pattern. The small connecting leaves and the flower stamens are finished in gold paint.
The dark green background represents the surface of a pond; there are dim dark fish shapes under the flowers and leaves, and a few ripples where the fish have broken the water surface.
Drawing size 8.5x11 inches, Total time from design to finish about 25hrs.

I love Emma Thorne on YouTube, she’s funny and sarcastic. Her commentary on misogyny is gold. “Women bring drama.” - random internet guy “Well, men bring guns.” - Emma Thorne Bob is smart, really funny, & very egalitarian. And like me, he is unimpressed by misogyny from anyone.

A marker, ink, and paint pen drawing (with digital text added) of my OCs, The Watchers: two small, identical, robed, faceless, winged, mouse-eared (we think) figures. Their wings and hands are gold; they have no faces (that anyone can see!). Their robes are a soft yellow.
They are both carrying white square signs; the left sign says “men and women are people...”, and the right sign says “”…handle with care.”.
The sky behind them is deep blue with stars and galaxies. One galaxy is right over the right Watcher’s head. The left Watcher has a galaxy behind their head that makes them look like they have a halo.
Note: They are not human!

#postaday2026 #artsky #blueskyart #bskyart #art #leeks #mumbling #malapropisms So, Bob was telling me that soldiers wore pantyhose to keep the leeches off in Vietnam, and I said something about leech-infested waters, but it came out “leek-infested waters”. So…

A marker, ink, and paint pen cartoon of a slightly bulbous leek with angry black eyes and a mouth full of teeth, walking left on their roots in front of a pond.
The leek is pointing with one root to a leek submerged up to their angry eyes in the pond, and the submerged leek is doing the “I’m watching you” pointing two roots at their own eyes, and two roots at the leek walking on the shore.
Two more leek tops are visible in the water, with bubbles and ripples around them.
Background is dark green with tree trunks.
Underneath the drawing to the right is written “leek-infested waters”.
Sometimes, when I try to say something, I trip over my tongue. I was trying to say “leech-infested waters”.
(This is funnier to me.)

#postaday2026 #artsky #blueskyart #bskyart #art #halloween #samhain #newoldart This is an old piece from 2020 that never felt finished; I worked over it w/ new marker colours & paint. The writing is me being pedantic. Samhain is Nov. 1. 😉💜

A marker, ink, and paint pen drawing of five mice sitting on three big pumpkins under the full moon. The pumpkin in front is carved, with text that says “Happy night before Samhain” in bad Gaelic (“Oíche Shamhna Sona”), set in a yellow glow.
(Samhain is November 1, just like Beltane is May 1. Halloween is the night before Samhain. I’m being silly and tongue in cheek pedantic.)
The pumpkins are arranged one in front, the other two behind on either side. There is a brown mouse on each pumpkin, the back two facing left and right, the one in front sitting cross-legged, head tilted to the left, looking at the viewer. There are two more mice on the left and right ground beside the front pumpkin, heads facing right and left.
The background is light grey flat moonlit ground, with shadows in front of the pumpkins. The night sky is full of stars, the moon top center.

#postaday2026 #artsky #blueskyart #bskyart #label #frog #forg AmphibiFarm’s Love Crystals! Let your love shine! 💜❤️💙 (Migraine last night; I’m a little wobbly today. Bob is doing better, though! 😀💜)

A marker, ink, and paint pen drawing in the style of a round bottle label in shades of pink, red, purple and gold. The border of the label is a graduated pink circle edged with gold and dark red lines, with the words “Amphibi-farms Love Crystals” written in gold Art Nouveau style font, with small white and gold hearts on either side.
In the center is an image of a pink frog sitting on a lily pad on a pond, holding up a glowing red heart shaped stone in their left front paw, so that it shines in the light of the full moon (top, right of center). Rays of light are shining through the frog’s fingers.
Their eyes are metallic gold with heart-shaped pupils, their skin is pink, with darker pink spots, and dark pink shading on their back. They are gazing up at the moon.
Behind the frog is a pond and a low hill, under a starry night sky with a full moon just right of top center. There are two pink waterlily blooms on the water. The night sky is full of stars.
Under the center image, on the inside dark red border line is written “Keep a little bit of love all the time!” in gold lettering.

A colour photo of two round brown pebble texture mushrooms that have grown together, so they look like a butt. There is sorrel growing to the right, and long leaves of grass around the left and bottom of the image.
Colours are green and light brown.
(Not sure the species of fungi, I’m allergic, I don’t eat any of them, so identification is less important to me. It might be a puffball.)

#kidneystones #exhausted #omg #whenwillthisend More kidney stones. More pain. Oh, my poor love. 😖💜💜💜

A photograph of a groundhog sitting upright on the step of our wooden back deck (it’s just above the ground; it’s really nice, and animals come sit on it all the time), back to the viewer, with ears back against their head, and their hips and knees slightly tilted, so one knee is higher than the other (like a person sitting cross-legged, one knee tilted up). The groundhog’s tail is curled to the left. There are two levels on the grey wooden deck; the groundhog is sitting on the lower level, right at the edge, with their tail curved around their left foot. Beyond them is a mown lawn.
There are two speech bubbles coming from the groundhog; the top one says “FUUU-UUUUUUUUUUUUUU… *gasp*”, and the lower one, to the right, says “…UUUCK.”.
We have groundhogs: we call one of their burrows “groundhog hill”, but we know of at least two (the other is “Mt. Dave”, made from clearing the foundation for my studio).
This groundhog climbed up on the deck, and sat there for at least 15 minutes, looking from side to side occasionally. It looked like a passenger waiting for a train that never came. Eventually, it slumped a bit, which is when I got this photo. :)

#postaday2026 #artsky #blueskyart #bskyart #art #oldart #bunnies Bob has been taken by ambulance to the ER twice (an HOUR DRIVE), & is still suffering from many (manymanymany) kidney stones. DYK stones don’t have to be big to cause pain? 😢💜 Who needs cute bunnies? I need cute bunnies! 🐰🐇💜

A marker, ink, and paint pen drawing in children’s storybook style of a rabbit in bed, tended by a rabbit nurse.
On the left is a reddish brown bunny lying in a brass bed, eyes closed, arms on the covers, propped up by pillows. The bed has green sheets covered by a triangle pieced quilt in the asexual flag colours; purple, black, grey, and white.
Far left, beside the bed, is a wooden cabinet with a white lamp on top.
The brown-grey rabbit nurse is standing center, beside the bed on the far side. She is dressed in a 1900s-style nursing uniform (an ivory dress under a full body white apron), and a little white hat with a red cross on the front, and holding an old glass thermometer in one hand.
Left of center, between and behind the bunnies, is a blue poster on the wall, of a spider hanging from a branch. The spider is hiding a heart, and underneath is written “hang in there!” in white.
Far right is a wooden cupboard, painted white, with get well cards on the top.
Floor is grey, back wall is pale grey.
(The bunny in bed appears to be asleep and drooling, but they are just dozing. I used the wrong grey for shadow!)

The Bunnies Naptime - a marker, ink, and paint pen drawing of three cute round rabbits asleep on each other on a pile of pillows in rainbow colours. The sky is dark blue, and filled with stars, and the ground is green like grass.
The rabbits are very stylized; they sit on the border of real and toy. The leftmost bunny is reddish brown, lying on their back with their paws crossed over their belly. The middle bunny is a lighter reddish brown, draped over the hips of the left bunny with their front paws hanging down, and their rump and the tip of their tail visible. The right bunny is light brown, nose pointed to the right, their front paws under their head, their lower body hidden behind the other bunnies.
The cushion colours from left to right: pink, orange, green, blue, yellow, purple, red.
I needed the cute when I drew this. Don’t we all need the cute?

An ink and pencil sketch of a cute bunny sitting in a field of flowers, holding a draping bunch of flowers, crowned with flowers, and flower vines drooping down above them.
What can I say, I drew a bunch of sketchy flowers.
The bunny is facing right, their eyes are closed, their ears are hanging down, and the bunny’s front paws are right underneath the cluster of flowers under their chin. (Um, they look a lottle like round boobs, and now I can’t unsee them, but they’re supposed to be paws clutching the flowers under their chin. Bunnies don’t have boobs. Or they’d have six of them. IDK.)

A marker, ink, and paint pen drawing of an anthropomorphic rabbit sitting in a black lounger on a sandy beach, facing left, towards the setting sun. The sky is blue with orange and red flat clouds, the same colour reflected in the water, which is calm, with tiny ripples.
The rabbit is reddish-brown with a white furred belly, and they are wearing purple framed sunglasses, with the orange and red clouds reflected in the lenses, so their eyes are not visible. Their ears are hanging over the back of the lounger, and they are sipping from a cherry milkshake held in their left paw, their left arm resting on the arm of the lounger.
The milkshake has whipped cream, a cherry, a purple paper parasol, and a green straw.
The background is the water on the left, going past sand dunes covered with marram grass on the right. Beyond the water are low purple-grey hills. The sky is darker blue on the right, away from the setting sun.
Underneath the lounger I have written “farewell to summer”, then my signature and the date, then in parentheses, “Happy 28th, my love!”, with a little heart. This was drawn on our 28th wedding anniversary. :)

A marker, ink, and paint pen drawing of my OC, Ghost Hare, a pale yellow-green ghost who looks a little like a flapjack octopus, but has hare ears and a fluffy tail. Ghost Hare is cuddling a Siamese cat in their ghost tentacles, and both of them are smiling with their eyes closed.
GH is facing left, cat is facing right.
The cat is based on a little cat that lived with us, so tiny, a ghost could lift her (6lbs!), named Mavis. She loved being held like this.
Background is deep blue-purple.

#postaday2026 #artsky #blueskyart #bskyart #art #photography #blueskyartshow #monarchbutterfly The last of the monarchs are hatching; we had 30+, with a +/-14% fail rate. Which is pretty normal for wild monarchs. Today you get a photo of a monarch on the asters. 💜

A colour photograph of a newly hatched monarch butterfly feeding on New York asters (purple daisy-like flowers with yellow centers that grow in a big bush, with green needle-like leaves). The butterfly is hanging slightly right and above of center, their bright orange and black wings spread almost fully open.
Adult monarchs drink nectar, and fall-blooming wildflowers like asters are an important food source for the September hatchlings, as these are the monarchs that will migrate south for the winter, overwintering in Mexico.
Fun fact: I thought asters were native to the UK; they are not! New York asters were imported by horticulturalists in the early 19th century, and in the UK they are known as Michaelmas daisies, as they flower around the end of September. Michaelmas is September 29. As a child, I used to bring huge bunches of them to church for Harvest Festival, because I loved them so much.

The background behind the roses is dark purple, and the roses throw soft purple shade on the green wall below where they come through. There are touches of soft violet and pink in the shadows on the rose petals.
Cursive writing bottom left says “With Deepest Sympathy”.
This is the base drawing for a card that will be printed, then touched up with more paint for a friend.

A marker, ink, and paint pen cartoon of my OC, the basket creature (a sentient Victorian toy, that is a little tan blob of stressed out fluff with pointy ears and a round white puff of a tail), with their back to the viewer, looking over their left shoulder, mouth open, pink tongue hanging out, holding a long, pink, narrow pennant flag upside down in their left hand. The flag folds back and forth four times to the ground, and “MAAAAAAAAAAAAAA” is written in fluorescent green, with the As going all the way along to the pointed end.
Basket Creature’s giant round eyes have green irises and black pupils, and they are staring at the viewer, their ears drooping, looking freaked out. Over their head is written “ZERO CHILL” in large pink letters that match the pennant, curved over BC’s head.

#ilovemyhusband #bob #itsbeenalongweekanditsnotover So, yesterday, Bob was discharged. Then we had to call an ambulance (we live an hour from the hospital) last night. Bob’s fine. A friend is driving an hour both ways to pick him up, b/c my meds made me unsafe to drive last night, so I didn’t go.☹️

A colour marker and ink drawing. Running from low left to higher right, there is a diagonal line suggesting a table or a desk, with an anthropomorphic orange tabby cat sitting at it with their head face down, their arms flat on the surface, and their striped tail up on the surface next to them (the classic “head on desk” position). Their face is hidden by their ears, which are folded down, resting on the desk. The cat’s left hand is resting on a laptop, and the screen has a :/ emoji on it.
Digital text above the cat says:
“OH MY GOD.
OH MY GOD.
OH. MY. GOD.*”
In increasingly large lines.
Bottom left, digital text makes the * note:
“*Cthulhu.” And then a squid emoji.

A marker, ink, and paint pen cartoon detail of my OC the Basket Creature (a weird tan rabbit or lamb-like creature with a fluffy white tail that was originally a Victorian toy before they gained consciousness and freaked out) leaning back on the pink and blue dress of another doll (only a corner of her skirt is visible).
Basket Creature centered, leaning back, green-irised eyes wide open, pink tongue sticking out, and holding a stick with a red pennant flag that says “Maaaaaaaaaaaaa” in white in their round paws. Their feet are up in the air, and they are balanced on their butt and their round tail.
Underneath, a digital box insertion says “NOPE” five times each in six descending rows, no punctuation. Just NOPE in chalkduster font.
This whole week is being NOPE.

#postaday2026 #artsky #blueskyart #bskyart #art #chronicillness #dentist #argh #basketcreature #nochill #wip I have been on 2 120+mi round trips to dentists this week, I have an infected root under a crown, & I have to wait til Monday. 🫠 What little I got drawn says it all for me today. 😑

An ink and marker cartoon of my OC, the basket creature (a sentient Victorian toy, that might be a lamb or a rabbit, no one knows)(but they have a round fluffy tail), with their back to the viewer, looking over their left shoulder, mouth open, tongue hanging out, holding a long narrow pennant flag upside down in their left hand. The flag folds back and forth four times to the ground, and “MAAAAAAAAAAAAAA” is written all the way along to the pointed end.
Basket Creature’s giant round eyes have green irises and black pupils, and they are staring at the viewer, their ears drooping, looking freaked out. Over their head is written “ZERO CHILL” in arched letters.
This is a WiP.
