I'm worried that as the US midterms come closer Trump will do wilder and wilder things (it's already crazy) in the hope of sparking backlash/demonstrations which he can then aggressively crack down on, 'justifying' troops on streets for the election. He has a history of creating his own emergencies.

Wow. Know the area well as I stayed in Braeside Street a number of years ago. That looks fab. Obviously connects up with the canal as well. Glasgow is making really good progress. 👍

So good to see a direct link planned for South City Way & South West City Way, along Maxwell Rd. That'll bring proper network effects. 👇 The Maryhill Road route is going to be so impactful. Bringing the Garscube Road cycle lane to Maryhill proper for the first time. (Love the visualisations too!)

These are Moylan’s full comments on floating bus stop bike lanes. This is the sort of transport policy almost every other European nation would find deeply weird.
“People who haven't seen a floating bus stop might think it's got nothing to do with them and they're safe. But I can promise you, the zealots behind these bike schemes are coming for you.
“So you will get a floating bus stop if you don't have a Conservative government, because we are going to put an end to them.
“These are bus stops, basically where the cycle lane sits between the pavement and the boarding area for the bus. So to get to the bus stop when the bus comes, you have to cross over the cycle lane.
“Of course, the cyclists are all meant beautifully to stop for pedestrians across, especially for blind pedestrians who are crossing. They never do. There are horrendous videos of cyclists racing through them. “Now we've announced that we are going to put an end to these. It'll take little time. We'll get rid of the most egregious ones immediately.
“We'll prevent any new ones coming along, and we'll design out the others as they go on, because they are hated by people, especially by the blind, by pedestrians, by elderly, by anyone who just does not want to have to think about a crazed bicycle coming at them at high speed, when all they want to do is get on the bus.”

Does anyone know the story on these bike racks in downtown Nashville TN? I see what they're going for but does anyone actually like or use these?
A bike rack with an unusual design mounted in the sidewalk on an urban street. The rack is two vertical steel posts spaced very closely together about four feet tall, with a horizontal element attaching the top ends in a shape reminiscent of moustache style bicycle handlebars.Detail of the landscapeforms bicycle rack showing a use diagram. A traditional "road" style bike hangs from the horizontal moustache element from inside the front triangle where the top tube meets the seat tube. The front wheel is detached from the front fork and hangs ... somewhere? Apparently everybody carries a u lock with attached cable, because this diagram assumes both.

Summer of terrifying drought and wildfire, bus drivers sweltering in shocking temperatures, everyone losing sleep unable to get cool at night and *this* is the policy they come up with? Just makes things worse and does nothing to address inequality or enable people to walk, cycle or catch a bus. 🤷‍♀️
