Does anyone know the story on these bike racks in downtown Nashville TN? I see what they're going for but does anyone actually like or use these?

A bike rack with an unusual design mounted in the sidewalk on an urban street. The rack is two vertical steel posts spaced very closely together about four feet tall, with a horizontal element attaching the top ends in a shape reminiscent of moustache style bicycle handlebars.

A conversation on Facebook where someone claims there are problems with a cycle lane, I ask for evidence. They don't provide it, and progressively start suggesting I'm bullying them by daring to check their homework. They think I've worked with them (if I have I can't remember it!) and they think I have a grudge... I don't!

So this is a Facebook response to a petition to extend a cycle lane in East Dunbartonshire #BearsWay. It's honestly quite stunning. I think this should win an award. Seriously.

It is naive to think that any extension could be made because road geometry does not allow it. Cyclists are unregulated. Commit many road irregularities and have done for years. The Highway Code now demands, and rightly so for safety reasons, at least 1.5 meetres between cyclist and car/lorry/bus/ articulated lorry/emergency vehicle, when overtaking.
Of course the Scottish government want a national cycle route. Of course the Glasgow cycling groups want a complete network but such road hungry structures defy the majority of road users, most of whom contribute to the economy 24/7.
Cyclists from Glasgow can take the train to Milngavie from the city if needs be to get out to the countryside.
Very much the minority will ever buy or cycle. You need to really analyse the demographics of road users, and cyclists. And publish it for us.
We in Milngavie would be looking for the transport modelling in detail of road use, and cycle use in the council area. We are the tax and council tax payers.
Sorry but this is cloud cuckoo land thinking. Cyclists contribute little to the economy in this country. They do support the cycling industry, the cycling clothing industry. Let's see the stats for cycling casualties and the cost for hospital treatment. E-scooters are unregulated, dangerous and a meance to many.
The road surface would be dug up, more white lines, more visual difficulties with who goes where. More pot holes between different road surfaces.
The cycle racks at bust stops are never used. So, the cost of their installation to taxpayers is completely wasted.
The townscape into Milngavie would be further made negative by the brutal design by Sustrans and others of the cycle lane infrastructure which is not sensitive to the environs.
