“Car owners are the most abused constituency in Cambridge.” Now is certainly a moment in time to label yourself ‘most abused’ because resident parking is going up to $75 per year.
A Nextdoor post from cambridgeport: Car owners are the most abused constituency in Cambridge. Not only has the city removed street lanes, making traffic much worse (Western Ave., et. al.), they have eliminated many parking spaces to allow for bike lanes (see Broadway, et. al.). And in addition to the annual property taxes car owners pay, they now are raising the cost of the parking sticker, and senior citizens, who previously got a break on this fee, are also losing that allowance. Is there an end to the city's gouging of car owners?

It’s kinda ironic that the real excess vacancy scandal in Portland would be subsidized “affordable” housing and not the market rate infill. Kinda the exact opposite of what the NIMBYs and skeptics claimed.

Portlander watching TriMet gut service while raising fares and PPS talk about closing schools. This poll doesn't surprise me. Nobody here is switching to Drazan. Kotek's in a coin flip in a state Dems have owned for 40 years because her own voters can't say what she fought for.

Portland Public School "right-sizing" will hasten a death spiral for the district. I don't trust this district to have a plan, to sell the plan, or to implement the plan. This is no way to run a school district, unless the plan is to run it into the ground.

Just thinking about how city officials say that Waymo doesn't give them enough data - voluntarily. I am in favor of government requiring transparency, but I have also been someone who has been on the other side - trying to get info from my city ... and their complaints are a bit hypocritical.

A concern I hear from a lot of folks about AVs is that we will eventually design our streets to accommodate them. Many of the same voices will say that the only way to make our streets truly safe from human drivers is to make it impossible for them to crash or do harm. What’s the difference?

We’ve been widely using a technology to destroy humanity (cars) for the last 89 years or so and it’s done fairly irreparable damage that we’ve just got to adapt to - and we’re still using it. Now we’ve got new technology that might destroy us a lot quicker and tbh it’s hard to say which is worse.

As I wait on a busy road for a bus that is perpetually coming in 12 minutes I’m just reminded how the city of Portland, the county of Multnomah, the regional Metro, and the State of Oregon really don’t give a shit about anyone who isn’t in a car. It’s obvious, shameful, and inexcusable.
