The Delaware River is my home river . The one George Washington crossed in the epic attack from Pennsylvania to Trenton NJ when our new country needed a win . Desperately . After many years of neglect and pollution, it's currently making a beautiful comeback .

RS with your home river. This is the Chester River, flowing past the historic homes on Water Street in Chestertown, MD. A bit inland is Washington College, where I got my BA. A bit to the left is the boathouse where I once played Caliban in an outdoor Tempest. Downstream, on Kent Island, I grew up.

RS with your home river. I grew up in many places, so I don’t know what “home” is, other than where I’m at. The Patuxent River is a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay. I live at the mouth of the river, as it opens into the bay. It’s quite salty. Like me.

Spanish learning: I do lessons, and consume Spanish in a multi-media way (read books and magazines, watch TV or movies, attend events in Spanish, etc) and I wander around the house saying things like “mi suéter no está aquí,” or I yell ELADO or say silly things about my perro (dog).

I caught a couple little westslope cutthroat trout today that had more parr marks than I have ever seen on a fish. They had dozens of them all the way onto their BACKS, they looked like leopards. Inexplicable, and gorgeous. 🐟

A small trout slightly larger than my fingers that has slate blue parr parks all over its body. Instead of ten or so along the lateral line, it has dozens covering its entire body, including the middle of its back between the dorsal fin and head.

On this day, kind of a long time ago, we took leave from orders that conveniently pre-positioned us in San Dog, stuffed ourselves and a mess of silk crepe into a crappy rental car, headed over to the Hotel Del, and got hitched on the beach at sunset with a handful of dear friends and family.
