Protests have now spread to universities and education workers. On the 6th of October, Union étudiante reported over 57 university sites blocked. Organisers counted 450,000 demonstrators nationwide, including 100,000 in Paris, supporting students’ demands and opposing police repression.

It took until 1962 for the City of Ottawa to allow all renters to vote in municipal elections. Before that, those living with roommates or in boarding houses couldn't vote. This changed after a referendum (passed 49,776 to 20,262—though renters barred from voting at the time couldn't participate).

I advocate for careers in the trades, but they can also be very harmful to your mental health. There are epidemics of drug and alcohol abuse - and of suicide - in the industrial building trades. I've never worked on a long-term project that didn't have at least one or two deaths in camp.

This "imported steel" comes in the form of extremely complex six-storey tall pre-assembled structures. There is nowhere in Canada even close to capable of constructing these modules - it is absolutely necessary for them to be built offshore.
