I went to a lot of different schools as a kid, each one was different. From 5-12th grade I went to the same school (literally one building), it was done in the morning along with the announcements. I stopped standing for it and reciting it in 5th grade and it was surprisingly not a big deal.

It was one of those books that a stranger just randomly gave me after overhearing a conversation I was having with a friend, and I just carried it around, constantly rereading it for about 6 months until I ran into a stranger who might have needed it more.

Really thankful for libraries and that all of the copies of Slackjaw weren't checked out because Jim Knipfel's death is heavy for me. I know I've said before that my most reread book is Cat's Cradle, but it really might be Slackjaw, even though I haven't reread it in about a decade.

A few weeks ago my doctor told me to start taking my iron supplement every other day even though my numbers are barely within the normal line (seriously it's at the absolute bottom end of normal) because he said the absorption would be better, but I think he's wrong on this one.

Yeah I sent a message telling him that I had a few trees. I knew needed updating and were missing, I'm wondering if new data from the city isn't happening soon because they've been aggressively removing dying trees and replanting up here the past couple years, which is awesome!

This is really cool, but the data they used for Minneapolis is from 2021, so if you are looking around your neighborhood and see something that's wrong, that's why. I contacted them about the wrong trees in my neighborhood to see how they wanted to handle that.

I put one of those flickering LED candle tea lights in the star lamp because the candle apparatus is missing, and it flickers way more than the other candles, so the star shapes kind of blink and twinkle. Hard to get good video with the light leaking in so I'll do it when it gets dark

Sorry if I'm being annoying with all the pictures of this when all I did was take some rust off of all of it, and I'm definitely going to take a better picture when it's dark, but this is extremely my shit.

A photo of the same scene described below but this time the room is darkened and all three lanterns are lit. You can see several bold five-sided stars in otherwise delicate, more ornate patterns cast from the lanterns I had before on the white portion of my bathroom ceiling.

I'm about to take a bath to wash all of the rust off me and see how they work together, but so far, I love it. The rust really pulls the whole thing together, and I moved the smaller lantern to my little side cabinet to spread more light around.

Just soaked it in baking soda water to neutralize the acid. Then it will spend some quality time in front of a fan and get a final rub down to take any remaining residue off, but I don't think I'm going to take any more of the rust off.
