I want to go to outdoor fall events but then I want to buy all the pumpkins and gourds and turns out there isn’t much room at my apartment for all the pumpkins and gourds.

I’ve been cleaning my apartment for about 1.5 hours and Tulip the monster has been meowing at me. And meowing. And meowing. Just sat down quick to text someone and look who jumped on my lap almost immediately and now all is right as rain.
Black and white tuxedo cat with a cute little white chin, sitting as a comfy proper loaf on a lap.

At the same time: it didn't hit the major networks or anything, bc farm worker orgs did NOT want to make a ton of noise. Bc their reality is every win brings a lot of backlash. Just, imagine what having an angry employer is like when you have no real rights & can't leave.

Based on what they found out in those investigations, which took forever thanks to witness intimidation etc, The DOL put in a bunch of anti-slavery provisions for H2A farm workers in 2024. And Trump cancelled back in June 2025. Who's in power absolutely does matter.

Some of the worst cuts of Trump's Big, Ugly Bill take effect in Minnesota today. Thousands of Minnesotans will lose their Medicaid. $32 million in SNAP cuts will force kids to go hungry. At the same time, Trump's billionaire besties get tax breaks for another private plane.

Fingers crossed that the attorney the council members get next week determines that Saint Paul does not have to pay for the mayor’s defense because of what conditions are and aren’t met.
Screenshot from Sahan Journal article, which says “Noecker explained council members were bound by “rigorous” statutory requirements that require the city to “indemnify and defend” its employees, unless certain conditions are met. The council will meet again next week to retain another attorney, who will formally decide whether those conditions apply to the mayor’s defense and if the city is obligated to pay for it.”

10 months later, Minnesotans are still feeling the effects of Operation Metro Surge. Kids are still scared to go to school. Parents are too afraid to take their kids to the doctor. The federal government laid this on our doorstep – now, they must fix what they broke.

ICE has detained almost 30 people this week in bismarck, nd
目 bismarcktribune.com

The sweep by agents with U.S Customs and Immigration Enforcement appeared to have begun Monday and lasted at least through the workweek, with nearly 30 people who are allegedly in the U.S. illegally being booked into the Burleigh Morton Detention Center over those five days. Two of the people arrested by ICE were reportedly employees at the Bismarck restaurant Charras, prompting the business to temporarily close.
Several of the protesters said they were spurred to act by the news of the Charras employees being arrested.

Ward 3 on the Mayor/Chief Lawsuit:
Neighbors,
Many of you have reached out to my office regarding the lawsuit filed by Chief Henry against Mayor Her and the City of Saint Paul. My position remains unchanged: these allegations are very serious and should be taken seriously. Every city employee deserves respect and a safe, welcoming, and inclusive workplace, especially from leaders entrusted with significant responsibility.
I respect Mayor Her's right to due process, and I will not comment on the allegations contained in the lawsuit. I trust the courts to resolve this matter impartially.
I know many residents are feeling frustrated, concerned, and disappointed. Regardless of the outcome of this case, the existence of a lawsuit, the questions it raises, and concerns about leadership and governance have shaken public confidence.
Those feelings are understandable.
Trust is the foundation of local government. People need to know that their city is working for them, focused on the issues that affect their daily lives, and guided by leaders and public servants who take their responsibilities seriously. I do. I have high expectations for myself, my colleagues, and everyone entrusted with serving the people of Saint Paul. I expect integrity, accountability, and professionalism from all of us, and residents should too.I continue to believe that greater transparency will help answer many of the questions residents have today. Releasing the full report of the investigation conducted by Resolute Law would provide some of the information that residents are seeking.
As someone who has called Saint Paul home for most of my life, this situation is difficult to watch. I am frustrated that it is taking attention away from the significant challenges facing our city. We still have hundreds of unhoused neighbors who need support and are currently living on a contaminated site. We are finalizing a nearly $1 billion budget for 2027. We recently restored proposed cuts to Dayton's Bluff Library and park hours, celebrated the opening of a Aldi grocery store downtown, unveiled new athletic fields at Baker Park, and negotiated a new franchise fee agreement with Xcel that will help support residents struggling with energy costs. These are the issues that directly affect people's lives, and they remain my focus.
Every day, more than 3,000 dedicated city employees show up to serve our community. They fill potholes, maintain parks, staff our libraries, respond to emergencies, repair streets, support families, and provide countless services that residents rely on.
They are the people who keep this city running no matter the circumstances. They believe in Saint Paul, and they deserve our gratitude and respect.I want residents to know that there are people throughout city government who care deeply about this community, lead with integrity, and come to work every day committed to serving the public. We have challenges ahead, but I remain confident in this city and its people. My commitment is to continue showing up, doing the work, and earning your trust through transparency, accountability, and results.
Our city is counting on us, and I am focused on the work that matters most to the people we serve. Saint Paul is bigger than any one individual, any one office, or any one moment in time. We will get through this challenge together and continue building the city our residents deserve.
-Saura Jost
