notably, the Times persisted in employing Bari Weiss for so long and with such unconditional credulity that she was forced to engineer her own Self-Cancellation just to finally move on to her next big grift keep that in mind when considering their “standards”
An excerpt from a New York Post article: "The New York Times, where [Ross] Barkan scored a number of bylines, told The Post it reviewed the work but didn't find anything shady.

"'Ross Barkan has no contributor affiliation to either The New York Times Magazine or Times Opinion,' a Times spokesperson said. 'He hasn't written for Opinion since July 2025 or for the magazine since January 2025. Times editors have looked at Barkan's past work for us and found nothing that violates our standards.'"

I think functionally all of the post-resignation coverage that was about him rather than Cambridge was excessive (e.g. this poisonous review of a book nobody is going to buy - why)
thetimes.com
Jason Arday’s memoir is mawkish, self-aggrandising and hard to believe
The embattled former Cambridge professor’s autobiography, Great and Unfortunate Things, feels precision-tooled to flatter the biases of the sappiest white liberals

I cannot stress this enough - the side claiming to “protect children” are now posting the names of children they claim to be trans, photos of those children to help people identify them, and the name of the school they attend. It is impossible to overstate the level of danger for these children.

BIG DEAL on voting rights this morning: Governor Spanberger just restored the voting rights of some 60,000+ Virginians. Her move reverses Youngkin's abrupt decision in 2023 to end automatic voting rights restoration, which brought Virginia back to a system of default lifetime disenfranchisement.

Virginia Governor Restores Voting Rights for Thousands With Past Felony Convictions - Bolts
This is the only state that, absent action by the governor, bans people convicted of any felony from voting for life. Virginians have an opportunity to end that system for good in November.

This is one thing I learned spending a decade in the trenches as a reproductive health reporter. Women aren't especially sentimental about unwanted pregnancies in the first twenty weeks or so. They don't feel bad about abortions. They just don't, no matter what Hollywood implies.

It's important to understand that the "heartbeat" you hear in early ultrasounds is actually created by the machine, not the embryo. But crisis pregnancy centers lie to patients about this. www.npr.org/sections/hea...

The Texas abortion ban hinges on 'fetal heartbeat.' Doctors call that misleading
The Texas law bans abortions after a "fetal heartbeat" is detected, usually about six weeks into pregnancy. But doctors say that's not an actual medical term and it's being used inaccurately.
