Tip: microplane a wedge of parmean and pop it into a plastic container. Then shove the container in the freezer. It will last for ages. Freeze the rind too to put into a ragu or stew for extra flavour.

It's not far short of a year since L died, & her cats joined mine in a "blended" household. Esme & Eliza have just reached the stage where they can cautiously sniff each other, & then decide occasionally not to beat the c**p out of each other. I'm calling it a win.

Easy, tasty summer recipe: 500g minced pork, a big glug of lemon juice, 2 grated garlic cloves, black pepper, a small handful bread crumbs, & a bit of oregano. Mix well & allow to marinade in fridge for 2 hours. Shape into kebabs and cook. You should get 4-5 kebabs from it. 1/2
