The problem with this framing is that they always define “right to exist” as “right to prioritize maintaining a Jewish voting majority above enfranchising everyone who lives in the governed territories.” Which gets you precisely into the policies in question.
from the Stephen Wise Free Synagogue: “I’ll debate Israel’s laws, its leaders, its policies. But I won’t debate whether it has the right to exist. That’s a stupid debate.”

How fast will this come to a public school near you
A U.S. charity in Gaza is worried that teachers at its schools might stray from a curriculum it says promotes peace and tolerance, so it plans to record classroom conversations and use artificial intelligence to flag speech deemed “hateful” or “inciting.”

The plans laid out by the founder of the Gaza Children Village in a webinar last month have elicited ethical, safety and privacy concerns from some Palestinian and advocacy groups and at least one of the charity’s partners.

There is no indication the charity intends to share its classrooms’ recordings with anybody else, but fears about the potential misuse of surveillance technology are heightened in Gaza after three years of war. The Israeli military has used AI to sift through intercepted communications and find suspicious speech, including to identify targets for strikes.

This is Nazi rhetoric, full stop. It's not only a call to instigate a race war in the United States, but it's reminiscent of historic European justifications used to incite pogroms against Jews. People who say things like this are incredibly dangerous, as there is nothing they won't eventually do.

I wish American Jewish leaders would think critically about what this means. "Jewish, democratic, and pluralistic" is inherently a contradiction in terms. Leaders should consider how most American Jews would feel about living in an America that is Christian in character the way Israel is Jewish.
A Washington Post headline: Why some Jewish leaders say they want to stop using the word ‘Zionism’A highlighted quote from the article, delivered by Rabbi Jacobs: “I support Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish, democratic, pluralistic society, and also that one day, please God soon, a peaceful resolution for Israeli and Palestinian dignity.”

"They're not misunderstanding the film; they're co-opting a message"
Screencap from the interview linked in the quoted post

Marlow Stern (the interviewer): You have one of the most renowned replies in Twitter history. Elon Musk tweeted out, “Take the red pill,” then Ivanka Trump enthusiastically wrote, “Taken!” to him, and then you replied, “Fuck both of you.” I’m curious how you feel about the co-opting of “The Matrix” by those on the right who don’t really seem to understand its messaging.

Lilly Wachowski: I mean, I can’t sit in a room and explain the movie to every single person who watches it. Even if I did sit in a room with Elon Musk and Ivanka Trump — yikes — it doesn’t matter. They’re not misunderstanding the film; they’re co-opting a message. And that’s what fascists do: They co-opt the messages of progressives and use it to their benefit to confuse and obfuscate what is going on and the intention of their ideology. They do it with everything. They do it with Martin Luther King Jr. Look at how they’ve changed the idea of what antisemitism is.

the media in this country treats bigotry coming from a place of fear as a valid public position. eventually this leads you to the ludicrous place where “the muslim mayor of new york city shouldn’t attend the 25th anniversary commemoration of 9/11” is treated as newsworthy opinion
"This guy, I think, is just an in-your-face type of guy that — for lack of a better word — enjoys this kind of controversy.
I'm just not in favor of him being around, so if he didn't come, I'd say great, we would go. But if he's going to come, I would venture to say a lot of people might not go," said Hughes, who is now retired and lives on Long Island.
The grieving father said he disagrees with Mamdani's politics and expressed anger toward the mayor. "Just the thought of him there rubs me the wrong way," he said.

Part of the problem that many liberal Zionists have not fully dealt with is that if "liberal Zionism" means anything, it has to mean full support for a two-state solution, which puts you in opposition not just to Netanyahu, but to every Israeli political party except Hadash and the Arab parties.

The Conference of Presidents would have you believe that words matter so much that Mamdani's words about Netanyahu directly provoked antisemitic violence in NYC... but words are also so irrelevant that the words of Israel's Minister of National Security say nothing about Israeli state policy.
"New York City is home to the largest Jewish community outside Israel. Yet its mayor has made denunciation of the world’s only Jewish state and its democratically elected leader a recurring feature of his public leadership. New Yorkers elected him to govern their city, keep its streets safe and represent its many communities. They did not elect him to turn City Hall into a platform for prosecuting the leader of one of America’s closest democratic allies.

The consequences are not abstract. Less than 48 hours after Mayor Mamdani released his video, an assailant stabbed a visibly Jewish man on the Upper West Side and, in a separate attack, stabbed an Asian man. According to witnesses and police, the assailant shouted “Allahu Akbar.” The NYPD is investigating the attacks as potential hate crimes.""Critics cite inflammatory remarks by individual Israeli officials, some stripped of context, as proof of genocidal intent. They are not proof of the policy or intent of the State of Israel."
