Whatever your thoughts on the death penalty, let’s not treat firing squad as somehow more barbaric or cruel than lethal injection. It is demonstrably the most humane form of execution. Nearly instant death.

This sure looks like the sort of appeasing headline Trump has been begging for to jawbone oil markets again, but what little details we have sure look like "we're gonna do it when we're good and ready, at the pace we deem appropriate"

My posture on the bill is far more reticent, owing to political reality with this admin and the courts than the bill’s text, which I agree is good. But yeah, nobody should take cues from the Sierra Club or Center for Biological Diversity on any of this. NIMBY trolls, not serious climate advocates.

Through Q3, Toyota's electrified vehicle sales including Lexus are up more than 16% on the year. (YoY) Presumably would be quite a bit higher without its RAV4 production issues, since that's now a hybrid-only model. Bodes well for 2027. 🔌💡🚗 s3.amazonaws.com/toyota-cms-m...

And there it is, a move to steal elections our in Georgia. It's a desperation play, and will almost certainly backfire...but it shows how committed MAGA forces are about thwarting the impending Democratic majority in Congress and takeover of state offices.

Pardons don’t immunize against federal civil liability, state criminal & civil liability, and international criminal liability. Dems should promise to use all the above against those stealing from taxpayers, striking corrupt deals, murdering American citizens and aliens, and committing war crimes.

I almost wonder if Trump's superpower - flooding the zone with news so he can drown out bad stories and promote his own narrative - is finally rebounding against him. Nothing he says matters for his political fortunes anymore as the masses just tune out his incessant lies as background noise.

And with the end of the Q3, we are now likely back on an EV growth trajectory as far as the eye can see (maybe with the exception of Q3 2027, just due to the 30D/45W fire sale in 2025). Q4 will undeniably bring us back to YoY growth. 🔌💡🚗

My gut is D+9-10 is probably a good generic ballot anchor and it's entirely unknowable whether the bottom actually falls with MAGA voters staying home en masse or non-response bias ends up narrowing the gap. But I'd expect to see a mini-comeback narrative with some GOP voters coming home in polls.

I've been "blogging" since early 2018, and found that overuse of short-form social media sapped my longform writing. Worse, it warped my verbal communication and ability to think through/articulate complex arguments. Rebuilding those muscles have been a slog. Why wouldn't LLM use be even worse?

Every now and then there's a candidate defending what should be a safe seat that you can just tell is going to lose. Not because of scandal or hyperlocal factors, but because they've never run a competitive race in their lives and can't stop shooting themselves in the face. This year it's Marshall.

I think one of the reasons I appreciate Flowers' swing at country so much is it it's more in the *Western* tradition of Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, and Dwight Yoakum versus what's become of Nashville (trash) or Austin (weird) over the past couple decades. www.nationalreview.com/corner/why-b...

The problem with seeing AI as an end and not a tool is you completely miss how it fundamentally layers into the way our economy/society is already structured. We don’t have the incentives to use AI for increasing factory productivity. We do for extracting maximum profits out of services.
