You can and likely will become disabled. Every single person you love can and likely will become disabled. It can happen at any time: car wreck, step off the curb wrong, body stops handling flu well. You should care about how disabled people are treated. Now.

If you belong to a minority, know this: Labour is not your friend. They’ve already made trans people second class citizens, by removing their human rights and dismantling their healthcare. Now they’re having a second go at disabled people, and have the effrontery to call it a ‘moral crusade’.
Pat McFadden, the work and pensions secretary, used his conference speech this week to describe changing the welfare system as a "moral crusade" saying too many younger people were stuck claiming benefits for too long.

The Times - which has v much joined in the rightwing clamour to reduce immigration - now reporting that Mahmood’s “success” has cost the economy £4- to £7Bn. Would they like to now honestly confirm that fewer people = less spending power for all. There’s a high price to pay for this nasty obsession.
Patrick Maguire
Chief Political Commentator Oliver Wright Policy Editor

Falling migration numbers could cost the chancellor as much as £7bn in fiscal headroom as he writes his first budget, The Times has been told.
Government insiders believe that John Healey, who already faced an uphill battle to balance the books next month, is likely to have an even bigger challenge after immigration undershot projections from the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR).
The Institute for Fiscal Studies think tank estimated last month that the success of Shabana
Mahmood's
reforms, which have cut net migration to the low hundreds of thousands, could cost Healey some £4bn.

Bristol Watershed toilets situation.

TemporarilyCantDoMyself • Today 16:44
Could do with some help. I attend the Bristol Watershed frequently, it's my favourite place to see a film and has been for many years. Until a couple of years ago the toilets were single sex, then they converted the main toilet block into mixed cubicles, open to all. BUT there's a corridor behind the bar, little used, which also had toilets and they remained separate sexes. Or so l thought.
The other day I went and used the corridor toilet while I was there, but they've got new 'trans inclusive' signs up. I used it anyway and came home and wrote them an email, to which I've just had a reply.
I sent this; Dear Watershed, Since my last visit signs have gone up outside the toilets in the back corridor that say 'trans inclusive. So you no longer provide women only facilities. Can you tell me why? I am a frequent user of the Watershed and very unhappy about this. As far as / understand it, it's also against the law. I intend to look into this further. Thank you so much, yours, Temporarily CantDoMyself
Just received this reply; Dear TemporarilyCantDoMyself,The toilets in the Café & Bar corridor that you are referring to have always been used by Trans+ people - this was even written in our code of conduct. And whilst / expect most Trans+ people are using the inclusive loos, there are some Trans + people who (like some cis people) prefer not to use gender neutral toilets.
The only change we have made is signage - the updated EHRC code suggests we need to formally recognise these toilets as mixed sex and tell people we have done so. This is not illegal, in fact without new signs the EHRC code could have left us vulnerable to legal action.
For the small minority who don't want to use these toilets, or our gender neutral toilets, we have designated two fully enclosed-toilets as single sex toilets.
^You can see all the information regarding our current toilet provision here -
https://www.watershed.co.uk/info/everything-you-need-know-about-toilets-at-watershed^
Best wishes
Clare Reddington
CEO, WatershedI'm just so upset. I'm 71 and I've been a feminist since I was 15, and I'm so bloody tired and frankly want to ignore it all and just try and live my life. The one single sex women's toilet referred to in the reply, by the way, is past the entrance to the cinemas so in order to use it I either have to be seeing a film or to ask permission to use it without seeing a film.
Fuck me I just don't want to.
Also there's so much to unpack in that reply and I just feel daunted. Trans+ for one thing - are the LGBs all just + to the Trans now, is that what that is? (I'm bisexual by the way). And the use of cis of course. And the sneering reference to the small minority who don't want to use the toilets. Etc.
Help me write something coherent in reply that isn't just
ARGH I'M NEVER COMING BACK TO THE WATERSHED NOW AND I HATE YOU which is very much what I'd LIKE to say.
So as not to dripfeed, I have a trans relative and a family rift so I do feel extra sensitive and upset on the subject.
Thanks.

The "A" added to the acronym is for accessibility. Just in case you wondered. It's called EDI here. I usually use the actual words, make people admit they don't want equity, diversity & inclusion (or accessibility) Maybe we should start calling it IDEA and promote the ever loving shit out of it.

Burnham is concerned about foreign governments spreading, lies, disinformation, preying on people’s fears and amplifying far-right narratives in the UK. He needs to look first at what his own government has done however…

to spread lies and disinformation, and prey on people's fears.
They've amplified far-right narratives,Campaigners have accused a government minister of making "inflammatory and dangerous" remarks after comments in Parliament about single-sex spaces,
as international organisations warn new guidance could lead to increased exclusion of trans people in the UK.
Seema Malhotra, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Equalities, told MPs that "most people have
the common sense to step in when necessary, for example when a person of the opposite biological sex enters a single sex facility in error - and when to alert a member of staff".The Telegraph
