I just think of the entirely trivial things that generate investigations for other demographics, and watch this man get away with on-camera fraud, breaking of electoral law, and then found to be not teaching his classes. Double standards are a given but my god, the blatancy, if I might coin a term

When I did work experience, there was a kid in year 1 who apparently read Wikipedia for fun (according to the TA) and he and I had a great convo about tectonic activity. Little older tho, end of year one so he was… six or seven?

A uni I struggled to start the work - having those hours scheduled would have meant I wasn’t cramming in the work at the end & would probably have meant I got a better grade overall. Very few people have no set work hours, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to allow students the same structure.

Honestly this would have made such a difference to me as a student with untreated ADHD. Maybe part of uni is learning to manage your own workload but my day is WAY more directed now I have a job vs as a student! I have hours scheduled to do stuff that needs doing & I can manage that easily.

Our people are literally DYING
Shelford said that, on average, a woman with ADHD would die nine years younger than her peers and a man seven years younger.

“In almost any other area, those numbers would have this treated as a health emergency, but the stigma and misunderstanding around ADHD means instead we’re treated as an inconvenience and proposed to be ‘disappeared’, untreated, from the waiting lists

Now one thing I do think has changed somewhat is that children’s fiction is more racially (and sexuality & gender) diverse. But I’m sure (/s) she wouldn’t say that Goldilocks is normal and Goldilocs is not because that would be even more absurd than the rest of her baseless claims

Finally… of course most fiction is going to have some element of unreality to it. It’s a story for a reason, something has to happen. Whether that’s a group of girls sharing the same trousers (seems unrealistic to me) or a kid detective or superheroes… it’s all a narrative device

Stories with superheroes often (usually?) show them struggling with normal emotional issues that she claims aren’t shown. Plus, thinking of popular series… diary of a wimpy kid. Lottie Brooks. Dork Diaries. There ARE still contemporary kids books, just as there were always fantasy ones.

Baffling take here… ah yes a neglected & abused child with superpowers is a “normal” child. An orphan who makes friends with enormous bugs living in a giant peach. A girl who befriends a big, friendly giant. A boy who wins a raffle and watches rich kids die and acquires a factory. Totally normal.

The question of rightful ownership should remain the more important one. But I do find it interesting that this exhibit shows the BM's continuous insistence on its own accessibility to be rather hollow. People are just far more able to engage with their history if they can see it right next door.

Well, this was inevitable. Forstater is now using her own case to argue that racism should/is protected as a philosophical belief 🤮
"Even comments which are “serious, severely hurtful and
prejudicial”are covered by Article 10 of the European Convention on Human rights (freedom of expression) which doesn't mean absolute freedom of expression in a situations, but employers should treat beliefs equally.

As the judge said in my case even beliefs that are profoundly distressing and offensive to many others are beliefs that must be tolerated in a pluralist society.""Cofnas's hereditarian belief has already been found to be "worthy of respect in a democratic society" by a court in the UK.

Though not binding in Belgium, but its anti-discrimination law is based on the same principle.

Still it's better to have a good job than a good legal case.

Ghent uni could string out the suspension - the process is the punishment.

If there are calls for a staff member to be discriminated against because of their beliefs the answer should be No (unless the belief falls below the v low threshold for belief discrimination), not "oh well if 2000 people object..."
