Reading the (excellent) Children of Anguish and Anarchy by Tomi Adeyemi and it includes a few lines in Yoruba, some of which include numbers as letters. From a cursory google, these aren’t in the standard Yoruba alphabet - can anyone tell me more? #linguistics

even when gen ai does an apparently acceptable job, it’s still not actually good. this very simple poster for a digital skills class for eg - loads of background noise & on the first draft, the QR code got messed up & didn’t lead anywhere. noise seems p standard for AI gen posters/images ime
A zoomed in photo of a simple poster with black and purple text on white paper. The whole background is full of random pixels that look like photocopying noise, but is in fact just a part of the original document.

Good luck! I made this crochet caterpillar & Ive been hiding him around the children’s library. He has a wanted poster up asking them to tag us on Facebook if they see him & we post a picture of him every week with a different type of book! I’m not great at hiding him but the kids love him (me too!)

I just read White Bird by R J Palacio, which isnt a sequel as such but is framed as a character from Wonder speaking to his grandmother about her childhood (escaping the Nazis). It’s a graphic novel so very quick to read & well worth it.
The cover of white bird by R J Palacio. A red headed young woman stands in a field of bluebells against a blue sky, with a white bird flying near the title.

We had no manager last year so didn’t put on any proper events in the summer holidays and I was WOEFULLY unprepared for how many kids I had for our craft morning today. Plus about a dozen more asking to make the same thing in the afternoon. Lovely to see it so busy tho!

Feeling particularly jealous of #libraries with maker spaces as I hand sew a cape for a display…

@janecasey.bsky.social really enjoyed your DLS talk today. I thought you balanced your discussion of Sayers with your own work really well. I don’t know if you got to take a picture of the display in the end so here’s the one I took before the event :)
A large red folding board with “Jane Casey DLS lecture” in yellow letters in the centre. Photographs, scraps of paper with writing on, and book covers of Casey’s ‘The Secret Room’ as well as Dorothy L Sayers’ ‘Who’s Body’ and ‘Unlikely Death’ are pinned around the central text, connected with string a la a detective movie conspiracy board.
