We created gyms because modern day work no
longer required physical activity. Without exercise,
our muscles atrophy.
I predict we'll need gyms for our brains too, once Al
starts doing our knowledge work.

Was going to suggest The Psychopath Test…then I saw it on the bottom shelf! Them, by Ronson, if you haven’t read it. The Algebraist by Iain M Banks or The Wasp Factory by his non sci fi alter ego. The Big Short by Michael Lewis. True Tales of American Life by Paul Auster. The latter best for audio.

Author Rachel Cusk has caused a fuss for her portrayal of an actress uncannily similar to her friend Natalie Portman. She’s part of a long and inglorious literary tradition

It's good to be back.
“I've been quieter than usual this past year. Life got in the way and I’ve been running on empty.
A couple of days ago I sent out a survey. I wasn't sure anyone would bother but 435 people did.
Reading the responses changed something. Not just what I'm going to make next, although it did that too. It reminded me that people are out there, paying attention and waiting to see what comes next. It’s the wake up call I needed.
I'm more excited about my work than I have been in a long time.
Thank you to everyone who answered. You have no idea how much it helped.”
