It remains genuinely hilarious that people think this quote is WB Yeats. This is on the wall in Kilkenny Design in Dublin, by the way. Bit of a lurch in tone from "And what rough beast, its hour come round at last, Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?"

An entire political movement founded on uncovering hidden messages in documents to discover the powerful secret pedophiles and meanwhile the powerful pedophiles out here sending gmails saying "Hi fellow pedophile when are we meeting to do pedophilia again"

In Dublin, on Fenian Street, there's a factory that makes child sex abuse material. You can pay it money, as a subscription, and that's one of the services it offers. This doesn't happen by mistake or because you've tricked or hacked the system. It’s a feature. www.thegist.ie/the-gist-the...

Why is everyone on Ireland AM talking about ‘Santa’? Who the fuck is that? Is he mates with ‘Father Christmas’?

Here's something that takes seconds and could have actual positive outcomes. There is an official 'citizen's petition' system in the EU. There's one open at the moment to ban conversion therapy for LGBT+ people in the EU. Ireland can be 1 of the 7 nations needed eci.ec.europa.eu/043/public/#...

When Musk denies that he did a big ol Nazi salute during the inauguration, remember this, from Jean-Paul Sartre, 1944.
Never believe that anti-
Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will

Those relaxing story apps seem like a great idea until you realise they're all read by people with British accents, which means that instead of drifting off to a restful sleep you just unconsciously start panic-hiding potatoes

They did the 'I actually felt unsafe as an English person in the Aviva’ lad dirty with their photo choice because his expression and the low camera angle trigger a mental reflex that you’re dealing with a man on horseback visiting your smallholding to discuss the forthcoming rent

Even taken as given Ireland has real issues with antisemitism that need to be addressed (which I agree with!) you have to wonder at some point if the focus on this one tiny country on Europe's periphery might be motivated by something other than concern for the welfare of its Jewish population
Headline: How Ireland came to be the most anti Israel country in EuropeHeadline: Why are the Irish so bigoted against Israel and the Jewish people?Headline: Ireland has become a hostile environment for JewsHeadline: Ireland's alarming antisemitism

Perhaps before arguing for compulsory turnout, we could consider that a party leader couldn’t vote yesterday because she was in hospital having a baby. How about we widen access to postal votes & deal with the state of the electoral register first and see what that does to turnout? #ge24

Lots of chat about the Greens, who delivered policy is spades, being punished in #GE24 is missing a key point: the majority of Green voters are values/principles voters. It's not just about what you do, it's about how you do it, how you communicate it, and how you frame it.

Oof, the poor woman. Imagine working up the nerve to raise something with the Taoiseach in front of multiple cameras/mics & this is the flippant snarky reply you get? Makes the heart hurt 🥺 Great piece as always from Carl 👏
Screenshot from QT’d link:

This week, in footage captured by journalist Richard Chambers, Harris was seen in conversation with a woman who raised the issue of people in their 60s and 70s losing their homes to vulture funds. The woman, whose tone is polite throughout, makes the assertion that RTÉ don't discuss this matter, at which point Harris cuts across to say: "I think there's a microphone right beside you that says RTÉ on it".
It was a pointless and childish interjection.
Harris knows well that there's a world of difference between a news organisation covering something to the public's satisfaction and a news organisation accidentally picking up something on one of their mics because a member of the public had the temerity to ask the Taoiseach about it.
