... That doesn't look like a correctly adapted bench for Molly, right? You'd imagine a bench she could get under and a higher oven might help for wheelchair access (and maybe lower dropping chance 🫣). Though optimistically they asked her and she just didn't want anything changed! #gbbo

"They're not misunderstanding the film; they're co-opting a message"
Screencap from the interview linked in the quoted post

Marlow Stern (the interviewer): You have one of the most renowned replies in Twitter history. Elon Musk tweeted out, “Take the red pill,” then Ivanka Trump enthusiastically wrote, “Taken!” to him, and then you replied, “Fuck both of you.” I’m curious how you feel about the co-opting of “The Matrix” by those on the right who don’t really seem to understand its messaging.

Lilly Wachowski: I mean, I can’t sit in a room and explain the movie to every single person who watches it. Even if I did sit in a room with Elon Musk and Ivanka Trump — yikes — it doesn’t matter. They’re not misunderstanding the film; they’re co-opting a message. And that’s what fascists do: They co-opt the messages of progressives and use it to their benefit to confuse and obfuscate what is going on and the intention of their ideology. They do it with everything. They do it with Martin Luther King Jr. Look at how they’ve changed the idea of what antisemitism is.

Discworld QOTD, from Guards! Guards!
“What if it’s just a thousand-to-one chance?” said Colon agonizedly.
“What?”
“Anyone ever heard of a thousand-to-one shot coming up?”
Carrot looked up. “Don’t be daft, Sergeant,” he said. “No one ever saw a thousand-to-one chance come up. The odds against it are”—his lips moved—“millions to one.”
“Yeah. Millions,” agreed Nobby.
“So it’d only work if it’s your actual million-to-one chance,” said the sergeant.
“I suppose that’s right,” said Nobby.
“So 999,943-to-one, for example—” Colon began.
Carrot shook his head. “Wouldn’t have a hope. No one ever said, ‘It’s a 999,943-to-one chance but it might just work.’”

As I've said since the beginning of this nightmare, transphobia is inextricable from ableism. They are the same mechanism producing the same results for the same reason. Any disabled people throwing their lot in with transphobes are sowing the seeds of their own destruction.
screenshot of a times Facebook post advertising an article by Kathleen Stock (famous transphobe), titled 'Why are young women using walking sticks?' the blurb reads '"This week a video went viral of a young woman in a wheelchair at a train station, filming the laborious attempts of staff to get her chair up some stairs after the lift failed. Towards the end of the video, somewhat unexpectedly, she gets out of her chair and walks upstairs herself, saying she "had a bit of energy that day" so could do it. In another video, she films herself putting on roller skates before pushing off from her wheelchair and skating happily away, Lazarus-like. Even severely debilitating physical conditions produce good days as well as bad. On some bad days, a person may need extra help. But when a disproportionate number of young women are insisting this applies, we need to find out what is going on. Why do Gen Z females, apparently unlike every generation before them, have strangely unstable bodies that intermittently require support?""

Féile row women’s rights event gets the go-ahead a t an alternative venue
Legal proceedings now at an end after agreement reached at court
Belfast Telegraph30 Jul 2026EIMEAR MCGOVERN
A women’s rights event cancelled by Féile will now go ahead at an alternative venue, the Women’s Rights Network have said.

It’s after the group and the festival reached an agreement at Belfast’s High Court, which brings legal proceedings to an end.

Women’s Rights Network Northern Ireland (WRN NI) had started legal proceedings after an event Respect, Rights and Reality was cancelled last week. It had been due to be held on August 4.

The group, which describes itself as “putting the sex-based needs of women and girls first” said Féile had “chosen to silence the voices of the very group that makes up half the population”.

In a statement, Women’s Rights Network Northern Ireland (WRN NI) said it “is delighted to have reached an agreement with Féile an Phobail which brings the current legal proceedings to an end”.

Féile an Phobail said it would continue to promote events “which provide balance and inclusivity”.

Papers submitted by WRN NI to the High Court in Belfast stated the cancellation was “wrongful, null and void”.

A hearing had been set to go head in the High Court yesterday, but shortly beforehand, both parties released statements.

The group said: “The Judge congratulated the parties today, saying they both deserved credit for reaching a resolution in this difficult domain involving emotive issues.

“Féile has agreed to meet with WRN NI to explore and discuss our potential participation in future Féile events, and we warmly welcome the opportunity for continued engagement.”

They thanked their supporters and said: “Our work continues. We look forward to the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland (ECNI) Judicial Review later this year, where WRN NI will continue advocating for women’s sex-based rights and for the safety, privacy and dignity of women and girls across Northern

An underreported part of UK Transphobe Lawfare™ is that when they lose, they just... say they won. For all the regrettable sway they do have in courts/govt etc, their real power is in the press. So if they lose, they just pretend they didn't and their press friends print the lie. It's ubiquitous.
