one of the most mind-melting things about this moment is how so much of the media and popular discourse politely ignores or is very vague about the blindingly obvious fact that Trump has rapidly-worsening dementia www.cnn.com/2026/09/08/p...
“For nine months, rescue and recovery crews worked day and night on the site. I want to just thank my people; I took a lot of my me(n) — I was building a big building in New York, and I took the whole crew down there right after this happened,” he said. “And they were — they had no hesitation — everybody went down with me. We went down, it was a big group of people. Wasn’t too much we could do, I’ll be honest — it was, you know, it was raw, and nobody’s seen anything like it, ever. We had other buildings; the United States Steel building was creaking, really creaking, and we thought it was going to fall down; the truth is it creaked a lot, it creaked. It still creaks. But it never came down, and I re(member) — I’ll never forget two firemen. We thought it was coming down on top of us, and two firemen — big, strong guys — and I’m not the smallest guy in the world — they grabbed me under the arms, said, ‘Gotta get out of here.’ And they literally lifted me up. This is not easy to do. I’m big. They lifted me up and they started running with me. I said, ‘Fellas, I can run myself.’ But they were amazing, but they thought it was coming down; it didn’t come down. US Steel.”

i think right now he is genuinely fixated on adding new american territory as the brass ring, the thing they'll never be able to take away from his memory i also think he can't make it happen so as 2029 approaches we are going to more and more see a family annihilator presidency

i really cannot maintain enough that my current theory of donald trump is that he is utterly gripped by the terror of death, and is desperately attempting to leave some mark on the world that history cannot erase--this is the point of the wars, the annexation threats, the dc vandalism

Very tiring how it's closing in on 5 years of the full scale invasion and people still insist this is about "legitimate security concerns" when the Russians will just tell you what their goals are and why they're doing what they're doing

I keep banging the “USAID was good and we must confront the obscene wave of death MAGA’s destruction of it unleashed” drum because I *desperately* want Democrats and the Left to prioritize rebuilding global aid. We should rebuild it better, but we can’t just let Musk’s global massacre continue.

Re: the maps discourse, "no one will manually intervene" is an excellent summary of the Trump years, but "and it's unreasonable to expect it" is why Evelyn Normielib types are wanting to see people swinging from lampposts

I think the thing the racist prof defenders imply but don't like to admit is there's no benefit to hiring/debating a guy who says mushrooms are created by fae because it's obviously silly but they do think it's worth your time to debate a race science guy because they think he's partially correct

This dipshit slipped outside for ten minutes and comes back looking like this
A long-haired cat that was formerly orange and white but is now so covered in dirt that he is brown and grey, save for a small patch on his muzzle cleaned by his tongue, as though he has just finished a shift in a coal mine.

Bloom County comic strip from 10/30/1984. Opus is arguing with his reflection. The relevant part: his reflection says, "A statesman is a dead politician."

Man, every single implicit procedural noise I've found, at its core, works exactly the same way: dice space with a unit grid, hash the integer grid coordinates, make the randomness from the hash. Props to Ken Perlin, it's been more than 40 years and no one has come up with another way to do it
