I feel like AI anxiety is creating this weird dissonance where people want art that contains the inexplicable human element while also wanting artists to explain their process and the meaning of things to prove they didn't use AI.

A close-up of a "realistically" painted (read: not so realistic) Statue of Liberty replica. Her facial expression looks annoyed and tired. She has reddish hair, light brown eyes and a red dress.

It’s very simple and it’s been said over and over but I guess it needs saying continuously: if you deem one group too small to have equal rights you are enabling fascism, not fighting it. The people saying Dems are GREAT on trans rights are not paying attention and/or saying stuff like this.

Whether the warnings are 100% genuine or 100% cynical and self-serving, we can and should expect Anthropic, OpenAI, Microsoft etc to use their lobbying operations and PR shops to push for and shape regulations that advance their business interests and their leaders' worldviews Great. Debate settled

So, we know we don't want Anthropic and OpenAI to write whatever law Congress cooks up to respond to this crisis (whether you think it's a real crisis or one stirred up by self interested AI companies doesn't matter.) Telling Congress "lol AI isn't dangerous" doesn't build power for good regulation

People tell me they like suits but don't have occasions to wear one. You can wear a suit to court, funerals, and religious services. Doesn't have to be your trial, friend's burial, or religion you believe in. Go to random trials, attend a stranger's burial, join multiple religions. Try it sometime.

there is no such thing as "age verification." All "age verification" is actually "identity verification." You can coat it in glitter and "privacy-preserving" wrapping paper. But in the end, mandating age verification means mandating surveillance be built into software and hardware. Period.

Okay I've thought about it more and maybe "Odysseus doesn't want to go home" is a valid interpretation of the text. And why wouldn't a filmmaker extrapolate about why. What I'm still mad about is how *easy* it is for Odysseus to get home once he decides on Calypso's island that he wants to do it.
