I don't have to respect or engage with people who have developed such bigoted views of Muslims, without ever meeting one, that they're hyperventilating over the thought of their children dating a Muslim in the future. That's a real conversation going around my neck of the woods in a real place.

Life in an ethnostate. This is normal in India, and now it's normal in my home state, which was one of the few places in India where it wasn't normal (before the BJP captured it). Lots and lots of problems in Bengal, but weekly lynchings of Muslims and attacks on churches wasn't among them.

Also shit, why not write flowery bullshit every now and then. I can't speak for anyone else, but when doing articles, switching up between humor and pomp and straight-ahead stuff keeps me interested in writing. Keeping it flat makes my job boring and unexciting. Being different is a small bit of fun

Oh 100 percent. That's why the "vote for Kamala in secret you don't have to tell anybody" tactic was never going to work. It casts white women as victims as opposed to co-conspirators.

I think there’s a duty here to say …And there’s little or no evidence to support this, and most of the people who say things like this are simply crackpots, usually very right wing ones.

Pour one out for a real one. His oral history at USHMM talks about the youth movements finding places for Jews to hide and bringing them food, and becoming masters at forging Nazi documentation so pristine that the national French Resistance used them too. collections.ushmm.org/search/catal...
how the youth movements were the first to recognize the imminent peril and initiated rescue operations to save and arm the Jews; how during the mass arrests the youth movements provided food on a daily basis for those in hiding, identified host families or institutions for Jewish children, and produced forged documents; recalls the various techniques to produce forged documents and the evolving coded vocabulary: "les bifs" for the more artisanal identity cards and "les synthés" (les synthétiques) for the more perfect forgeries; how the youth movements' forgery laboratories were so proficient that the national French Resistance used their services and, in particular, the expertise of Maurice Loebenberg (Cachoud);

Hell, I miscounted in my head. Peered at a map and there's 4 food markets, 4 drugstores and 7 bodegas (if I expand the radius out a bit more). And if I get to brag even more, also a chocolatier and if I'm being a bit liberal on the definition and include cafes that do baked goods, 16? bakeries.

One of the true bonuses of a walkable area. Within a 15-block radius are 7 supermarkets, another 3 smaller markets, 4 bodegas, 3 drugstores, a whole ass mall that still exists and countless eateries. Never owned a car in 47 years of life and probably never will

The term “remigration” is associated with the extreme right and only came into widespread usage in 2023-4. Even Germany’s AfD avoided using the term in 2024 for fear of scaring away voters. Today the US government is celebrating the “victories” it’s racked up in the “ethnic cleansing” column.
