It's in the high 50s and on its way to nearly 70° today in Boston and I just walked by a man wearing a Canada Goose coat. How long is winter for this poor bastard?

The Boston Globe was always going to be pro-voucher, but the poorly informed nature of today’s editorial is bad. They waited for the rule-making but didn’t read it. There’s no “shaping” this program. #MAEdu

Sometimes I think about where we would be as a culture today if #MeToo in 2017 had radicalized more straight men into fighting sexual abuse instead of creating a culture of "oh god don't get me CANCELED" and "fake accusations" paranoia and resentment

What a funny headline for an article that goes on to detail how the SOA: ✅ Insulated New Bedford schools from a fiscal cliff ✅ Expanded pre-K and added new supplies ✅ Upgraded buildings & maintenance ✅ Decreased chronic absences ✅ More AP, arts, & music classes ✅ Happy parents ...but MCAS...
Boston Globe headline: ‘It hasn’t really panned out’: Massachusetts pumped billions into the neediest schools. The results have been mixed.

I love the optimism about Dems winning in November - I share it! And: I'm a tiny bit nervous that winning will free folks of the urgency to fix deeper structural problems in our party that will fuck us in the long-haul if we don't grapple with them.

Vaccines
Vaccines help prevent serious illnesses like measles, chickenpox, whooping cough, polio, and more. With vaccine preventable illnesses on the rise, it is more important than ever to stay protected. Getting vaccinated is much safer than getting the disease, as it lowers the risk of your child being hospitalized or having long-term health problems.

this is excellent
stigmatizing Rowling’s weaponization of childhood not only requires personal withdrawal for most people, it necessitates something much more difficult: being a giant fucking killjoy. You should tell people discussing the show that you’re not watching it, and why, and you should let yourself openly cringe at your sister-in-law’s Harry Potter tote bag, and you should bring up unprompted that the onslaught of legislation against trans people makes you sad and angry, presuming it does, and you should do this because, not despite, the fact that it will make you look annoying as hell and may make everyone present uncomfortable. (You probably won’t even get the kudos of looking like a cool ally, because you’re still ultimately talking about Harry Potter. Sorry about that.)

Ugh: A new Massachusetts poll has a 51-32 lead for a ballot initiative to adopt the top-two “primary” system. This system has been a wreck in California. The majority party frequently risks getting shut out of general elections, so party organizations often pick favorites in primaries to avoid that
