In recent days, AMA communications to the New York Times have requested a correction on their part to reflect the actual language the AMA used in response to their inquiry. Additionally, a letter to the editor has been submitted requesting a public correction—this was neither a policy change nor was it an endorsement of a position taken by another medical society. In addition, during Congressional testimony in mid-March, I had the opportunity to set the record straight stating to the Subcommittee on Health of the House Energy and Commerce Committee that there has been no change in AMA policy with respect to access to and provision of gender-affirming care. This will appear in the Congressional Record.

This is a good thread, and in particular demonstrates that “can an LLM do X” is very different from “will a short naive prompt get me there?” FWIW I think ChatGPT and friends bring this on themselves, as the chatbot interface *encourages* short, naive prompts.

I want to read this article. Two (meant constructively) things: 1) "demonstrating that LLMs are worthless for indexing" should, like most of these things, have qualifiers like "in our hands and with our LLM" 2) when people talk like this about accuracy, I suspect the workflow as much as the model.

This was my immediate response to the election results, where I warned that civil society was going to irrevocably shift because of this, but that it was important to maintain your own sense of right and wrong--and to let that guide your actions--even when nobody else is. I think it holds up.

When I visited Thaddeus Stevens' grave last year, the two things I was deeply moved by were the photo of the Negro Civic League of Southeastern Pennsylvania gathering there in 1918, at the height of Jim Crow, and the plaques outside the school a block away with poems about him written by the kids.
