This stuff is related, by the way. The focus on "user safety", defined as "never having to interact with a person whose views differ more than epsilon from my own", is very bad. The ability to remove quote posts and the nuclear block are both downstream of that attitude.

I think brigading is a problem on here, but it's less of a problem than the hair-trigger block culture. I block people for being unpleasant assholes. I don't generally block them for having opinions I disagree with, and I think doing so signals a weak mind.

Are we concerned that Al is somehow going to fashion a novel pathogen? Let's please consult experts on viral synthesis - and listen to why they think that the fears are misplaced. Or maybe it's nukes that we're afraid that Al will get a hold of?
