ICE Jailed a Rabbi For Protesting Israel. Now He Can’t Observe His Faith
Officers told an anti-Zionist Orthodox Jew they ‘don't care’ about his need to pray away from a prison toilet. Plus: Trump gets angry over two advisers leaving the country for a major payday.

Universities bring in foreign students ... to undercut the wages of American residents? What? This is exactly backwards. Foreign students subsidize the tuition of American students. I wonder why the VP who follows Nazis online has this all wrong. Probably an innocent, non-racist mistake.

Easily my favorite detail:
There was the incident that became known as "the Lauren error": One day, her daughter Lauren, then four years old, was playing with
the command module simulator at the Instrumentation Lab when she somehow activated a pre-launch program, called P01, while the simulator was in midflight — which crashed the simulator altogether. Hamilton created a program add-on in the technical documentation warning users not to launch
P01 during flight. She also proposed a software fix to prevent the error happening during a real mission, but she was overruled on the grounds that the highly trained astronauts were never going to make that same mistake. Yet during the Apollo 8 mission in 1968, that's exactly what happened: Jim Lovell inadvertently launched P01 during the flight, causing the on-flight navigational data to vanish. Hamilton and her team were called in to solve the error, and after that her proposed changes were
integrated into the program.

This is white nationalist agenda stuff. Elevating tiny problems into headline scare tactics about foreign nationals in the US and diverting money from existing programs to pursue people for their otherness is not the kind of policy you get from a functioning democratic regime.

BREAKING: Judge Sorokin upholds magistrate judge's order requiring discovery to be produced by the Trump administration in Kseniia Petrova's vindictive prosecution claim, among other discovery and grand jury instructions. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
Because the government has identified no legal or factual error in Judge Dein's analysis
of Petrova's entitlement to discovery concerning vindictive prosecution— and because the record and the law plainly support her conclusion in the circumstances presented the government's third and final parry fails.
Accordingly, the government's appeal (Doc. No. 63), ably briefed by both parties, is
DENIED. The parties shall meet and confer and shall notify the Court by October 23, 2026, whether a further ruling is needed as to the scope and timing of the discovery to be produced
pursuant to Judge Dein's order, affirmed in full here. If so, those issues shall be raised before
Judge Dein at the final status conference, presently scheduled for November 30, 2026. See Doc.

tweet by @fightincowboy:

The amount of performative anti-women bullshit is unsufferable. God forbid there's any women in games now these pearl clutching pussies are crying "THEY MADE IT WOKE".

Michelle Rodriguez has been playing the commando trope for most of her career.
Sigourney Weaver was the sole survivor (alongside the cat) in Alien. Sarah Connor, The Bride from Kill Bill, Trinity from Matrix.

I could go on and on, but the point is we've seen badass women in media for a long time and suddenly all these feckless dorks are crying and getting their undies all twisted because "there's whamen in my game Meanwhile don't forget the main antagonist of Gears was a woman, Queen Myrrah. Of course that's irrelevant to these larping ass tourists.

Honestly it's all so fucking performative. These are not real problems to anyone with an actual life. I don't know a single well functioning adult that spends their days crying about bullshit like this.

We see the same pattern in code review: output volume rises fast, but bug density and cleanup time do too. In one internal eval, AI wrote 3x more lines, yet reviewers spent 40% longer fixing edge cases.

The part that gets skipped: it's not that each line is worse, it's that output outpaces review capacity. Nobody scaled code review 10x to match the 10x output, so the bugs just pile up downstream.

the dataset is pretty kickass: 300 million 'work events' (code commits, pull requests, jira tickets, etc) from 700,000 employees at 700 companies, which each adopted vibe-coding tools at different times, enabling a difference-in-differences study
We use a novel proprietary dataset from Jellyfish (JF), a software firm whose main product is an
analytics platform for companies to understand the activity of their engineering teams. Our data
provides information on approximately 300 million work events of 700,000 workers across 700 firms,
from January 2021 to March 2026. JF integrates data from five sources: (1) HR information; (2) code
version control systems, such as GitHub, which provide information on engineers’ coding activity;
(3) issue management systems, such as Jira, which indicate engineers’ assignment to and progress
on tasks and projects; (4) scheduling tools, such as Google Calendar, which provide information on
2
meeting activity and time allocation; and (5) generative AI usage, for GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and
Claude Code. The scope of our data allows us to observe the full software production pipeline, from
intermediate measures of coding activity to final software output, as well as employment, and to tie
changes in these outcomes to AI adoption.
