No one wants to think the situation is more complex than we understand, no one wants to hear "maybe we don't have all the details, maybe that's for a reason." No one wants to leave the hard jobs like international diplomacy to the experts. "Why don't they just do it my way?" Because you're stupid.

My CIO told me APTs keep eating his Netscalers so I asked how many 0days he has and he said he just goes to Citrix and gets a new 0day afterwards so I said it sounds like he’s just feeding network gateways to China and then his threat hunters started crying.

A great illustration of the way social media has essentially shredded society’s informational immune system: The USSR spent a fortune trying to spread conspiracy theories, without success because they couldn’t crack newsrooms. Today, you can reach the globe with a post that costs $20 to make.

As a reminder, the things that are so grotesque about the arch are 1) it's a monarchic symbol of triumph utterly in conflict with our values and system of government but also 2) it will break the intended sightline between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery.

Higher Education is not just about training workers, but also about training citizen leaders and good citizenship in part means thinking that the details matter, that getting them right matters, because it impacts some of your fellow citizens. "It only matters if job" is poison to citizenship.

Always lay your baby down to sleep on their back in a product designed for safe sleep.
A baby sitting in a catapult in a suburban backyard. The baby seems surprised to be there. The text reads: Is this a safe sleep environment for your baby? No! This is a catapult! Put your baby to sleep flat on their back in a crib, bassinet, play yard, bedside sleeper or other product designed for safe sleep. If your baby falls asleep in a car seat or other product not designed for sleep, move them to a safe sleep space.

This is one of those skills that we expect graduate students to pick up but rarely teach explicitly. But basically, most (all?) academics learn to read in a way that lets you extract what you need from a text as quickly as possible, because we have to process a lot of text as part of our jobs.

The reason the left needs to embrace this thought is that the only way to pay for Nordic-style social democracy in America is to raise broad-based taxes across the board, and we'll never be able to do that if we operate under an ideological principle that almost everyone in America is poor.

These people had protected status. They lived here legally. They worked, they paid taxes. They made lives. Raised families. Now we’ve dehumanized them. Ripped away that protection and told them to get out. This is a stain on the soul of this Nation.

lawyers in 2026 learning that words sent to a website are discoverable
Beyond this being a highly interesting case on its own merits, it shows that ChatGPT transcripts can be obtained by opposing lawyers in discovery or during depositions. Moye said
"every lawyer needs to make sure their own experts aren't generating work product in a way that's insincere, and then knowing you can subpoena the prompts [.] I've got lawyers all over the place saying, 1) 'Holy shit, man. How did you get the prompts?, and 2) 'How many cases do I have where this is happening to us?'"'
