If Trump just takes money appropriated by Congress for a specific purpose & seizes it to use it for an entirely different purpose, what is the point of having a Congress or appropriating money for anything? I’m sure the Senate Appropriations Chair Susan Collins must be concerned.

Something AI is responsible for that doesn't get enough talk: How, when it scrapes a website to illegally steal everything on it, it uses up a ton of its bandwidth allotment, crashing it or racking up massive fees for site owners.

CSP being pressed to take even just /kissing/ off their asset store and FA being told that plus sized characters are considered adult should be a giant waving red flag to folks. Sex workers have /always/ been right to say these policies never stop with 1 type of content. They always wanna ban more.

Every time I read this article I think there needs to be a quick explainer after she says "I'm sorry but it's too late". Something like "Because to benefit from a vaccine, the body needs a working immune system and two weeks time. At this point, her patients often had neither."

“how do we win back trump voters in 2026” we don’t. we create an environment where admitting to voting for trump is so socially embarrassing as to render them completely inert. you don’t “win back” trump voters. you demoralize them into staying home. you make it a dunce cap

Unshared that Naomi Klein quote. Turns out she said a lot of things close to that but the meme was AI generated and fooled even her at first glance.
I have stumbled across it multiple times, and several people I know and respect have personally thanked me for the message. Trouble is, both my image and my quote are Al-generated, built from patterns of photographs that do exist and from very similar words I've actually said and written elsewhere. In truth, I agree heartily with Al Naomi. But it's still not me, and the fact that even I was fooled at first and searched to make sure I hadn't said those exact words (while sort of wishing I had) makes me feel the opposite of calm. (Also: what the hell is it with me and doppelgangers?)

Water color is very controllable medium. When I was an art student many years ago, we loved using water color because we, the students, felt that it was the best medium for creating realistic works. I'm a scientist now, so take that any way you want.

As a child I read "Other Sandals" by Sally Watson. From 1966, it features a young Israeli girl living on a kibbutz who has grown up with fear and hatred of Arabs. She and her partly crippled cousin "swap sandals" and learn new perspectives. Dated but still relevant www.goodreads.com/book/show/13...

Aliya to the Infinite City is a great first book in a trilogy set in a magical alternative Egypt. Read the first with my (then 9) y/o and we both really liked it. A magical school, time travel, plenty of middle grade angst & familial problems with a good smattering of humour.
Book cover of Aliya to the infinite city by Laila Rifaat. A brown girl rides a magic red carpet against a striking silhouette of a city with tall minarets
