This is what we are up against. It’s why I’ve always said the under 16 social media ban doesn’t go far enough. We shouldn’t be banning it for children, we should be properly regulating it for everyone. This is scary. How do we fight this?

I had a conversation over on LinkedIn about my use of the term Road Violence: figshare.le.ac.uk/articles/rep... But Road Violence is exactly what is described here, whether or not it results in a crash (not "accident"). Let's stop calling it "anti-social driving".

Legal Responses to Road Violence
This Policy Briefing Paper was produced by Professor Sally Kyd, Professor of Law at the University of Leicester, with support from the University of Leicester Institute for Policy. This Policy Briefing Paper draws on research from the University of Leicester exploring the roles of the CPS and police in deterring and responding to road violence. These insights underly the key policy recommendation to reform and reinforce sentencing guidelines in response to rising national rates of road violence.

"Bann et al. pose the question, ‘why can’t epidemiology be automated (yet)?’, as though the automation of epidemiology is both inevitable and desirable [1]. They describe a future of ‘1-click reviews’ and ‘end-to-end automation’ that will ‘[boost] the efficiency of current practice and … [create] new opportunities for’. But scientific discovery requires far more than increased efficiency. In epidemiology, new knowledge comes from critical reasoning about data, about context, and about the limits of our existing understanding. Such reasoning, in turn, demands deep thought, scholarship, and diligence. All are threatened by automation..."

Ditto, criminology / crime prevention scholars. In the UK - while in the midst of a huge prison crisis - motoring offences represent 60% of sentences, and there are roughly as many cases on causing death due to illegal driving as there are murders. Yet not many seem to care about these.
