Ta-Nehisi Coates rejects blaming voters who wouldn’t back Kamala Harris over Gaza for her loss to Trump in 2024, saying many were asked to vote for a Democratic administration enabling a genocide against their own families.

“That’s you. That’s not me. And that’s not who I want to be,” he said.

He drew a historical parallel: Black Americans didn’t accept being sacrificed for Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal, whose Social Security and housing programs were written to exclude most Black workers in order to win Southern votes, and Frederick Douglass pressured and publicly criticized Abraham Lincoln through much of the Civil War, warming to him only late.

The author of The Case for Reparations added, “If we get access to any sort of power, we can’t do what was done to us.”

I took a look at the Bluesky users who most frequently posted about Democratic MI Senate candidates July 12th-28th. Based on self-stated location, a much larger share of the accounts that most often post in support of Haley Stevens are from outside Michigan than those supporting Abdul El-Sayed.

I wonder if AIPAC is coping to the fact that a majority of Americans are rooting for Iran? We are sick of Israel’s shit. They started all of this. They started it with the Nakba, they started it with genocide, they started it w/Iraq & now they started it with Iran. And we are over that shit.

Polanski is deft at dodging attempts to deflect him, sticking firmly to articulating his main points and preventing them being misrepresented. He bats away false premises & logical fallacies, refusing to allow them any perceived legitimacy. No wonder Farage so carefully avoids going up against him.

'Chair of the West Midlands Jewish Community' seemed like an odd title to me. As it happens I couldn't find it anywhere. I could find this though:
Ruth Jacobs
Ruth has been involved with promoting positive aspects about Israel and its relationships with Palestinians for more than 30 years. She has supported organizations which are committed to doing this including Solutions not Sides and Friends of the Bereaved Families, by organising events for their speakers in the Midlands. She is the founder and chair of West Midlands Friends of Israel whose aims are to promote Israel, promote Palestinian endeavours for peace and to promote peace in the region. She is also a founder member of Nisa Nashim West Midlands, a dialogue group for Jewish and Muslim Women. She sits on the West Midlands Combined Authority Faith and Strategic Partnership Group.

NEW: In dealing with the Trump admin, Columbia is paying a $21 million settlement to Jewish or Israeli staff for claims of harassment/discrimination. Unclear if non-Zionist affiliates who have faced harassment can file a claim, though terms say Trump admin has "sole discretion."
