Cool, another big pro-corporate, anti-worker move from our Conservative prime minister! I am becoming The Joker Source: www.ctvnews.ca/politics/art...
CTV News article text reads: The sources tell CTV News the gover ment has conveyed to them that the legislation will be aimed at introducing binding mediation before strike action is taken. Industry's message to the government was that its traditional tool to use for binding arbitration, Section 107 of the Canadian Labour Code, can only be applied too late in the labour dispute process and from its perspective, does not adequately prevent the damage caused from a work stoppage.
Several union sources CTV News spoke with are on red alert over the possibility of this legislation and contend it will strip workers of their right to strike. Unifor National President Lana Payne expressed worry on Friday in an interview on The Graham Richardson Show on HeartRadio.

There's a reason previous Liberal governments looked at privatizing airports and didn't go through with it. Private investors don't want a stake in our public assets to make them better. They’re in it to make as much money as possible for themselves - while workers and passengers pay the price.

Mark Carney is often described as a “disruptor prime minister.” But for writer Linda Thornback, he’s less of a disruptor than he is a dismantler. A disruptor changes an inherited system—a dismantler removes it and leaves space for something else. ow.ly/rRv450ZOvBF

This is a $2.1B subsidy. Canada is an oil producing country and oil companies are having their best years ever with profits increasing by billions of dollars. A sensible policy is a windfall tax on oil companies and using the revenue to invest in infrastructure that makes us less dependent on oil.

Carney is a true neoliberal who sees all tariffs as bad. I'm worried he will buckshot tariffs, rather than see them as elements of an industrial policy. The play is to enact tariffs to build domestic industry and implement complimentary policies to support that development.

The decision you announced last week to leave our neighbours who use unregulated drugs in City Centre - Vancouver without a safe place to use and simply exist this summer, is unconscionable.

I want this to be a society that doesn’t throw people away like you have, at Mayor Sim’s insistence.

To our dismay, the artist and author Marjane Satrapi has passed away. As she wrote, ordinary Americans and Iranians have more in common with each other than we do with either of our governments, which have far too much in common with each other. We honor her memory and oppose the war.

NO WAR WITH IRAN!
The world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West.
You are American, I am Iranian, we don’t know each other, but we talk together
& we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you
& your government is much bigger than the difference
between you & me.
And the difference between me
& my government is much bigger
than the difference
between me & you.
And our governments are very much the same...
