I went to Geneva a few weeks ago and spoke on a panel about the nature of time for a Geneva Watch Days event. While I was there, on a lark, I entered a competition to most precisely calibrate a Swiss watch. And today I found out that I won! 😃 www.instagram.com/reel/Dd6hUTB...

No true scientist will outsource the fun of the creative process to a machine. We must focus on finding and eradicating the science operators who will stop at nothing to get more recognition & power. The impostors can be identified. We need to rely more on the good old human interactions.

Not sure how the community will be consulted, but if so this will be really critical and time to be vocal...delegating our peer judgement (admittedly imperfect) to LLM feels like removing the cornerstone of how science works. If this is the way it goes, I'd rather become a teacher or bake bread🤷‍♂️

More broadly, the so-called fixes being pushed out, such as age verification, punish the consumer instead of forcing the companies to do better. The whole model of how these things are legislated is backwards. Make the companies fix it, not their users, who are already trapped in a dystopia.

This is the best explanation of the interplay of specs, tests, and implementations that I've read. The point of both specs and tests is interoperable implementations, but that doesn't mean that implementations are always right when they agree.

The main new things in 0.6 are ✨transformations ✨ - adding the "Where" directly to your image data. Some data (e.g., SCAPE microscopy) require a transform to display correctly. View your data correctly, data-duplication free with OME-Zarr 0.6! (UI is WIP, made for @napari.org x napari-ome-zarr)

🤝Coordinate transformations extend the promise of interoperability to complex, non-linear transformations. Do a registration in imagej.net/plugins/bigw... @bogovicj.bsky.social in #Fiji, store the NGFF transform and apply it to your data elsewhere! (Dataset: rodare.hzdr.de/record/3131)

I don't understand why they are *both* wiggling back and forth? ie typically you have a fixed reference and you're estimating a transform from a moving image to the reference? What is different here?
