A week ago, with the help of friends and siblings, I finished construction on a labyrinth in memory of my mom at my dad’s house. My mom would always walk one as a ritual when she came across one, as a meditative act. I miss you, Laura. I know you’d be proud of it.

High-density displays can be genuinely interactive, allowing viewers to select, to narrate, to recast and personalize data for their own thinking. Thus control of information is given over to viewers, not to editors, decorators, and badly designed computer graphics (such as PowerPoint and Excel). Data-thin displays move viewers toward ignorance and passivity, and at times diminish the credibility of the source. One of the county seats in Arizona is Holbrook, in Navajo county. It inspired Cars. In Holbrook, you can stay in a “wigwam” at a hotel. In the Cars movie they changed it into a traffic cone.
